  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

imgaine a place where nobody has seen a plane but they are all christian...when they see a plane flying in the air, they will properly say it is the devil trying to trick them...
a christian without the knowledge of science will also say that it is the work of satan when they see boiling water evaporate...
my question is, is it accurate for us to say that UFO sightings, and other supernatural sighting like sprits or ghost are the works of satan when our science are not really fully devolope? is it fair to say that a person who have supernatural abilities practices whitchcraft or that they are the devil when we could not think for an science explanation for their ablities?

I don't know what kind of Christians you are talking to, but you are making some pretty strong accusations about their intelligence.

A wise person searches out everything. But, as the bible says in 1john4:1"Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God..."

It is really that simple. Spirits are nothing new to this world, just study history and the bible and you will find truth.

No, not accurate at all, and not fair.

Being Christian does NOT mean that we are all stuck up, closed-minded, and won't open to new ideas. HOWEVER, being Christain means that I have a relationship with Jesus Christ, that he is my savior, and that I am to live my life according to the Bible.

If I was never to have seen an airplane before in my life, yes I think I would be curious as to what it was, but I have common sense and intelligence to reason that it must have certain properties that let it move through the air without falling like a brick. I know physics exist because God created them! Not Satan. That and I took the class back in high school.

Marc (great name, by the way) is quite correct when he quoted that scripture... We are to study the Bible to find the truth. Test it! Find the truth, and you'll find yourself before God.
God bless,

~Marc

Now why would they say that
i saw a tread about UFO sighting and sprits long time ago...many people claim that the devil is trying to cheat them...making them think that there is something beside God...i thought about that tread again recently and thought that it is not really fair to those e.t inside that UFO saying they are from Satan!

I don't know what kind of Christians you are talking to, but you are making some pretty strong accusations about their intelligence.
when a 'mirical' happens, dun christian either say it is from God or from the devil?

In your original post you said is it accurate and fair to say all Chrisitians say this or that. Now it is "many" said......well, many is better than all because we don't know. Everyone has a idea based on what they hold true as basic beliefs. The miracles fof God accomplished something for man and fulfilled prophecy about Messiah. The miracles of God are not to be associated with UFOs. Jesus healed, gave sight to the blind, and raised from the dead in the Bible. He did not say "look at the UFO".....as one of His miracles. Not the same thing. If they are of satan, then it will be revealed in time, but whether they are or not isn't that important compared to the real work that needs to be done in the world - the encouragement of hope faith and charity through the gospel of Jesus Christ and the indwelling Spirit that leads us into the good works of God; such as feeding the poor and clothing the naked of our communities. Loving our brother in deed and not just lip service. It's a task that takes God's Spirit to accomplish for our flesh is weak and lazy even when the Spirit is strong and can run.

As sosmeone who is a Christian and has worked for many years in academic poarapsychology, trying to discover if the so-called supernatural is no more than misunderstood science, I tend to agree with you. Many so called paranormal phenomena are easily explainable - the orbs which have become popular in ghost hunting circles recently are digital camera artifacts, many mediums use no morte than cold reading and trickery, and standing wave effects with low frequency sound are now known to cause sensations of being haunted (a Google search on Richard Wiseman, Parapsychology, or Skeptics will find loads more on these and many more subjects). On the other side, there is some limited evidence for psi and ESP effects, and people continue to see ghosts. I do not deny the reality of the supernatural, or that supernatural power can be of God or of Satan: however I do believe as you correctly state that people miscontrue normal events as supernatural.

Oops! Just to make clear, that post above was me not Lisa! (CJ.23 not SL55) We are sharing a computer since hers broke, and while I was out she logged in to Christian Forums, and I posted. My apologies - as far as I know Lisa has no opinions on the subject at all!

I told you what God says from His Word. What more is there to say.It doesn't matter what some "christians" say. It only matters what God says. We are all sinners in need of a savior so our "opinions" will very greatly unless they are straight from the Word of God. I really do not want to get into it because I was a ufo chasing new ager for 7 years before I became a christian and I can tell by your question that you don't really want to know. You just intend to "attempt" to make christians sound closed minded and ignorant. I've been there, I've done that, then God opened my eyes. I hope you will find the truth also. It is only going to be found in Jesus Christ.

With love

Hi there!

There are two types of spirits, good and Godly, and evil and satanic. We are told to use discernment. It really isn't difficult to determine when a spirit is good or evil.

What they do and what they say will determine their origin.

Hi there!

First of all, there is a significant difference between "UFO cultic" statements and those concerning "spirits". I recommend a book by William Alnor, "UFO Cults and the New Millennium" which has chapters answering your questions.

Science or not, the practice of witchcraft is wrong according to the bible. The words "magic" or "magician" occur 23 times in the OT and NT (NIV) and each time they are spoke of negatively and described as wicked. You can find one good example in Acts 8 where God's power is contrasted with magic.

Acts 8

Simon the Sorcerer

9Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, 10and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, "This man is the divine power known as the Great Power." 11They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic. 12But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.
14When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. 15When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into[3] the name of the Lord Jesus. 17Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money 19and said, "Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."
20Peter answered: "May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin."
24Then Simon answered, "Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said may happen to me."
25When they had testified and proclaimed the word of the Lord, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages.

ok,

yes and no dude, But most supernatural sightings arent as mystical as boiling water... more like incarnated spirits, actually talking to someone, and a sceintific explanation for that is mental illness, but I am not mentally ill, and I have seen demons face to face many times, in visions mostly, but whats odd here, is that more thanone people at a time see these visions and after discussing and describing our encounters, we find the visions identical., well... sometimes, not always.

Questions?
