superman is a normal guy on his planet and comes here and is now wearing blue tights with his underwear on the outside and mocks us as to how stupid we are as we cannot recognize that black glasses and a suit on Clark Kent he still looks exactly like superman. I think there is actually a comic book story arc about Lex Luthor running for president on the platform that Superman is an alien and illegal immigrant and we need to make Earthlings great again. At the time it was more of a musing about the nature of comic book heroes and what that says about human agency, but this topic reminds me of that.

Superman, BTW, is actually based on Jewish folklore and culture, since the creators were Jewish. The Kryptonian names are a dead giveaway since they resemble Hebrew, but the story itself is a metaphor for Jewish-American wish-fulfillment in the context of an immigrant experience of assimilation. Superman comes from a homeland that is destroyed and he has to learn to assimilate into a foreign culture, even taking on a second name, something many Jews in fact did in America for business purposes. And behind his extraordinary powers is the sort of magical worldview of Kaballah and other Jewish folklore.
