• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How come asking for help against suicidal thoughts is seeking attention? If you need help don't you need help? I am through asking people for help. The person I asked to disciple me didn't. The counselor that I called twice, emailed didn't respond, and my friend said all I wanted was attention. Blah!!!

For the same reason cutters are seeking attention. Not being able to deal with emotional pain, we have resorted to a variety of behaviors in order to cope, and in doing so, have brought those behaviors to the attention of people we hope will care about us, and give a Damn whether we live or die.

When I get those overwhelming thoughts of wanting to hurt myself, I have to self-soothe, and nurture myself. After, I have taken care of my needs myself, if I still need help, I can ask for help appropriately from my discipler or my therapist.

Suicidal gestures, and self-harm, scare people away. If you are in that much emotional pain, go to the emergency room. Don't go to nonprofessionals with your suicidal thoughts. They are not equipped to deal with them. Go to the hospital if you are suicdidal. That is what my therapist has told me to do. To quote him: Emergencies go to the emergency room.

Find a licensed psychotherapist to work with you. Obviously, the counselor you sought help from is not a professional. Not all Christian counselors are licensed, and a mental health professional should be licensed, or don't go to them.
