  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just want to know weather people who commit suicide go to heavn or hell? What if they got saved before they did it?
One of the main arguments that I have heard which teaches that you would go to Hell is that if you committed the sin of suicide, then you wouldnt have the chance to repent afterwards.

This line of thinking doesnt really hold water because that would mean that a person lost their salvation every time they sinned and that through repentance we regain that salvation. See where this philosophy is leaking now?

However, with that said, no true christian could ever be at such a low place in their life and take that life without losing sight of who Jesus is to them and what He is capable of doing for them in that situation however horrible. Satan the god of this world has blinded their minds and has complete control of their thinking processes. This person needs good christian counsel and friendships to help them through their mirky perception gaining the ascendency over them. One word from God can shatter any thoughts from the enemy that would hold you captive.

They go to hell. Don't do it. If someone is saved, the Bible says, if you destroy the temple of God, you will be destroyed.

That is sad.

I knew of a young Christian who committed suicide, he suffered severe abuse and bullying/taunting at school.

It makes me angry to think a God of love would allow a person that has been treated like trash, and consequently committed suicide, go to hell.

How can God be so unmerciful? I don't believe he is, but in the minds of some christians he is.

God allows sinners to go to hell, if they reject Jesus as their Lord.

1Co 3:16 Do you not discern and understand that you [the whole church at Corinth] are God's temple (His sanctuary), and that God's Spirit has His permanent dwelling in you [to be at home in you, collectively as a church and also individually]?

1Co 3:17 If anyone does hurt to God's temple or corrupts it [with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him. For the temple of God is holy (sacred to Him) and that [temple] you [the believing church and its individual believers] are.

And let us not forget one of the ten commandments is, thou shall not kill. Or You shall not commit murder. If you kill yourself, you just broke that commandment, and you are a murderer.

You think I'm being harsh?? I'm trying to keep ppl from deceiving themselves and going to hell thinking, "well, I'm a Christian, so I can do as I please and still go to Heaven." The only ones going to Heaven are the ones obeying Jesus as their Lord and Boss. And Murder is not obeying Jesus. I'm into saving lives, not giving ppl an invitation to escape life through self murder.

1Co 3:18 Let no person deceive himself. If anyone among you supposes that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool [let him discard his worldly discernment and recognize himself as dull, stupid, and foolish, without true learning and scholarship], that he may become [really] wise. [Isa. 5:21.]

1Co 3:19 For this world's wisdom is foolishness (absurdity and stupidity) with God, for it is written, He lays hold of the wise in their [own] craftiness; [Job 5:13.]

1Co 3:20 And again, The Lord knows the thoughts and reasonings of the [humanly] wise and recognizes how futile they are. [Ps. 94:11.] [AMP]

1Co 3:17 If anyone destroys the temple of God, this one God will destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which _you*_ are.

I am from the father, and I do the divine will of the father and the Holy Spirit is always with me. The food I eat is from the father. The words that come from my mouth, can destroy me, if they are not the words for God.

1Co 3:17 If anyone does hurt to God's temple or corrupts it [with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him. We are born innocent, and receive instructions from deceptive ones (also blind) that lead us into captivities, cruelties, spiritual death and physical death. It is the work of those who continue to instruct those with the wrong instructions, who are guilty of going against God. Alcohol, and substance abuse is learned and promoted by evil doers, not of God. All evil is from those who continue to instruct the innocent ones, generation after generation, and is not of God.
Therefore shine the light of truth into the world apon those who are going against God, for how else are those in darkness and unable to see, may be able to find God's instruction.
Like a garden, we must look after this daily, lest the evil ones continue to prevail against the innocent.
If one does not have God's instruction, out of being born blind, they are innocent of trying to escape the claws of the wild beasts, in taking their own life, in order to escape.
If however, they have the instruction of God not to bring harm to themselves, and they do take their own life, then its likely they have not the complete instruction of God, for if they did, they would already understand, embrace, and love the divine will of God thru the Holy Spirit, which no unclean spirit is able to cling to, and therefore it would not be possible for such a person to take their own life, unless they were forced to by another. All sin is forgivable, yet despised by Jesus, for those who continue to knowingly sin. Therefore sin no more, as instructed by Jesus to do so, for if it were not for enlightened ones, how will it be possible to prevail over the evil doers outside your door.

1Co 3:18 Let no person deceive himself. If anyone among you supposes that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool [let him discard his worldly discernment and recognize himself as dull, stupid, and foolish, without true learning and scholarship], that he may become [really] wise. [Isa. 5:21.]

Cast aside the cup of bitterness and drink from the cup which is sweet, that is of the divine will of the Holy Spirit. Be always filled with the spirit thru a heart that is full of conviction, and always thirst for more light in which to be filled even more. For it is the divine will that you become the brothers and sisters of Jesus, in order for love to cross all divisions of the world where those seperated from God, become once again united with God. United you will stand, with divided hearts, we shall fail to complete the mission of the divine will of God. Take your place in the world as a person of God, standing ever ready for those who are lost.

1Co 3:19 For this world's wisdom is foolishness (absurdity and stupidity) with God, for it is written, He lays hold of the wise in their [own] craftiness; [Job 5:13.]

Why concern yourself of the matter at all, of those who wish to scorn you, yet do not know you (your heart). It is obvious that it is they who are without, and foolishly absurd, in need of being able to control the words that come out of their mouth, that is not of God.

1Co 3:20 And again, The Lord knows the thoughts and reasonings of the [humanly] wise and recognizes how futile they are. [Ps. 94:11.] [AMP]

Spiritual death is all around and obvious in the hearts of many.

1Co 3:17 If anyone destroys the temple of God, this one God will destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which _you*_ are.
[ALT]

We are from love and it is to love we return, unless you allow others to lead you into captivities, which are far from God. The light of truth is able to show that you are already free of your captivities that you choose to be bound with.
There is a vine that grows, that is not of God, that will be uprooted and destroyed. Already the ax is laid at the root by Jesus.
Dig down into your hearts and pluck out of you, the root of this vine the seeks to hold you captive.

I believe that if a person has been saved and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in their heart they will go to Heaven. I may be very wrong. When a person commits suicide they are not thinking properly with their depression. I am sure that God knows this for He knows all.

Awwwwwww how Christian is it of you insulting me!! I hope you feel better about yourself! I would rather you not answer any more of my question. And it was not a stupid question. I don't know the answer to it and I am NOT stupid!!

Just consider the source and roll with the punches, Amanda. You are not stupid nor was your question stupid. The only stupid thing was the nasty response to your question, IMO.

I think we must look at each case seperately. Though I'm sure most people commit suicide out of desperation, or because of depressive thoughts and states of mind, or because of dreadful circumstances, a few might have other reasons which aren't so forgivable imo. God will deal with each case of suicide individually; I don't think there is a blanket answer.

Now before you jump all over me, I have felt the sadness of someone close committing suicide, and the hardest part i found was that a front that they put on made them seem alright, also I still wonder why they never felt they could talk with anyone.

But to put a different spin on the thread does suicide fall into the realms of murder and therefore break one of the ten commandments, I sure I've heard this argument used.

Personally I don't believe it does, and IMO any one who commits suicide is a brave and very depressed person.

Hi Glory,
If you will read my post I never said they would or wouldnt go to hell. I simply presented one view that I dont agree with.
I understand you wouldnt want to say any thing that would encourage any body to commit suicide but I just dont have a yes or no answer.

There is better ways to counsel without telling people they will go to hell [unless you are convinced of it & you have scripture for it] which I dont.
I wouldnt try to convince them either way. I would just want to help them with a better solution to their problem, which is a more long term solution than scaring them into staying alive.

I agree with this in some cases skylight however this isnt something that I would tell a person contemplating suicide who just asked me if they would go to hell. They are looking for reasons to do it and I dont want to be their encouragement. What I have told people before is that I dont know for certain but this isnt the way you would want to find out about it because there is no turning back. Explain to them that the temporal sorrow they will be ending in this life is nothing compared to the sorrow they will sense once they see that they have missed out on His call for their life on earth and the many rewards in heaven that go with it.

Brave? I dont think so. Whats brave is the many people who overcame their suicidal temptations and fought to stay alive until their situations changed. That my friend is brave.

King Saul committed suicide but the bible says he is in heaven.

There is only one sin that is unforgivable, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit i.e when the Holy SPirit convicts a person of sin and righteousness and of the need for salvation in Jesus Christ and the person treats the Holy Spirit's gentle and loving invitations like dirt. That is the only unforgiveable sin.

Matthew 12:31 NIV
And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

There is only one sin that can take someone to a lost eternity: rejection of salvation through Jesus, brought to us by the SPirit.

God allows sinners to go to hell, if they reject Jesus as their Lord.

If they reject Jesus as saviour. Even some Christians reject Jesus as lord, that means when Jesus returns they will be in his Kingdom in Jerusalem with red embarressed faces.

You can hate the father and be forgiven.

You can hate the son(s) and be forgiven.

But if you hate the Holy Spirit, you will not be forgiven, for you can not find the kindom of heaven, except by the Holy Spirit.

Beware then, of the words you speak and believe in, for they can destroy you.
