  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just want to know weather people who commit suicide go to heavn or hell? What if they got saved before they did it?

Deepends on your definition of heaven and hell.

If heaven is here on earth, and hell too, then someone who kills themself, likely was experiencing hell on earth, self inflicted in most cases (substance abuse and irrational thinking while high and/or drunk).

My best freind took his own life at age 21, 3 days before Christmas, while intoxicated out of his mind (20 beers).

Truth be told. Troy died stupid from an irrational moment of thinking while intoxicated (Jesus often spoke of those who are intoxicated are not themselves, and think irrational, and will repent once they become sober).

Most substance abusers do not know the statistics for recovery are very bad (poor to nill prognosis for first 5 years of recovery program).

Many ways of looking at this.

Perhaps he found himself in a moment of repenting, feeling guilty of his own foolishness, and took his own life that he felt was not worth living. Maybe he wanted to be with Jesus in the spirit world. Maybe he is here with us now...in spirit.

I knew Troy, he had a good spirit. He is not in hell. He is in an eternal place of peace. Like Jesus is witness to our souls, so too will I be a witness to Troy's soul that was filled with love for Jesus.

Beware of the treachery of foolish thinking, like substance abusers and money lenders. They will inslave your souls.

Be strong for each other. Talk about these issues in loved ones lives. Do not make them outcasts. They are in need of your strength and understanding. Point out the statistics to them of what they can expect in the future. Show them the truth. Help, if you can, during their moment of weakness.

Troy called me, weeks before he committed suicide, asking for my help. By that time I had given up on him...a decision I will not forgive myself for, even if God forgives me, I cannot. Yes, I too was not strong enough myself to help, but I should of been there in his darkest hour of need, as a freind who could of helped him see, that I loved him no matter what, and it is I who will carry you out of this place of darkness that you have found yourself in. I will not leave until you come out of here, into the light of love, where you belong.

God knows how much I have hated myself for not following thru. God has heard my tears at night, that I mourn for my own wretched soul, that did not help Troy.

Forgive him father, it was I who abandon my brother in his hour of darkness. It was I that stood in the light, and chose not to stay with him thru his weakened state.

Oh, I am sure many of you have your opinions of psycology on this one (enabling), but it was I who asked Troy to stop calling me and hung up the phone, the last time I spoke with him (two weeks before he died), having lost the hope in my heart that Troy could recover. He could of recovered, had I been there for him, like Jesus is for us.

I learned conviction in ones heart, is lacking in many of us, and that we only need to look closely at the conviction in the heart of Jesus, that he had for us, in asking God to forgive us, for we knew not what we were doing. Jesus knew those who lead us away from God, and he felt horribly upset for our captivities we became bound in.

Jesus is here for all of you, and his conviction in his heart is one that will never give up hope on you. He knows we come from love and fall in the world into captivities. Jesus is the one who breaks all chains and sets you free, merely by saying to you, "Do you not know who you are? You are God's children! Recognize those who have lead you into captivity, and with the mind of truth, set yourself free from these evil doers. See the truth in all things, and become free of the poisons of the world that hold you captive. Already you are free, yet do not know it.

Like Jesus, I too will never give up hope on mankind.

We are from love, and it is to love we return.

You are the divine children of the father, and it is thru the heart of Jesus that we can all come to the kingdom of heaven. Jesus is always there for all of you, when ever you are in need of him. Pray to him, for he always is listening. Know the true love within you, that longs to be free of those you allow to hold you in captivity. You hold the key to your chains that bind.

Forgive Troy father, for it is I who abandon him, not you, and it is Troy who was held captive by the chains he did not know how to get free of. It is the others who lead Troy into captivity, not Troy. Banish them from the kingdom of heaven and banish me too, for giving up on him. Leave me here so that I may help break the chains that bind of those who are in darkness. Leave me here until I am old and grey and of no more use to you, so that I can continue your divine will father, and help unchain all the Troys held captive in the world. Do not take me father, for my work is not done.

They go to hell. Don't do it. If someone is saved, the Bible says, if you destroy the temple of God, you will be destroyed.

When I was 16, before I knew how to meet God, I wanted to commit suicide. But, something in me said if I did, I would go to hell. And that is what kept me from doing it, fear of hell. Maybe fear isn't a good thing, but it saved my life, and now I preach the gospel and want to live.

"Does someone go to hell for committing suicide?"
Those who are adamant that a person who takes his life is committing a mortal sin, and will go to hell, are basing their belief on church doctrine rather than on the Bible. Scripture is silent on the subject. There are no verses that say "He who takes his own life shall be damned." According to Scripture, only one sin does not have forgiveness, and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (see Mark 3:29 footnote). That means there is forgiveness for every other sin.
Some quote 1 Corinthians 3:17, which says that God will destroy someone who "defiles" the temple of the Holy Spirit. Yet, there is disagreement about what it means to defile the temple. Does this include suicide? Does it include illicit drug abuse (slow suicide), prescription drug abuse, cigarettes (deliberately breathing in poisons that will eventually kill), tattoos, over-eating (digging a grave with your spoon), or alcohol abuse?
God forbid that we add to the pain of someone who has lost a loved one through the tragedy of suicide, by making a judgment about their eternal destiny. God is the ultimate Judge, and we should therefore leave the issue in His hands. It would be wise to follow the biblical example and not come to any verdict in the case of suicide.

I honestly don't know...on the one hand I would think that suicide is not an unforgiveable sin, HOWEVER, I would NOT take the risk!!! There have been many times in my life where I had contemplated suicide, but just the mere uncertainty of where people go who kill themselves was always enough to cause me to want to stick it out here. We just cannot tell from the Bible for sure and it is just not worth the risk. Whatever pain people go through on earth is nothing compared to the pain of hell.

Anyone who would do away with their lives are not in their right mind and thinking.

If a person was saved I do not believe they would be lost if they did something when they were not in their right mind.

This is one that must be left to God and it is not up to us to judge their soul.

If a born again Christian dies of cancer, will they go to hell?

If a born again Christian dies of mental illness, will they go to hell?

I would say the answer to each of those questions is "no".

If a person commits suicide, could they not be said to be "mentally ill", if not only for a fleeting moment where they have decided to take their own life?

So will they go to heaven if they were saved? I would say yes, though of course none of us can know for sure. I just can't see a God that is full of Love not allowing a born again Christian into heaven because of one fatal mistake.

.

Thank You for sticking up for me I appreciate it!!
For the people who are wondering its not me who wants to commit suicide. I was a friend of a friend who did commit suicide. And I didn't even know him a friend of mine did. We were just discussing this and neither of us knew for sure. That's why I asked.
