  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dealing with this kind of tragidy can be difficult. Does she feel her life is a waste? Does she blame herself for her friend tragic choice? We can't know what exactly goes through their mind. But we can theorize that they hated life so then ended the pain of it. It can be difficult dealing with death in all it's forms. I would encourage her to deal with all the emotional involvment of the death. If she bottles it up, it will attempt to slowly destroy her.

urwill4me:hug: i just want you to know that my dad did this end too. from this perspective and such, i just want to tell you that people praying with you, and just giving love and help through the process of grief is very big and needed.

the scripture that cut my questions and grief in half was:

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding.

the grief process is sometimes very long. your encouragement and love will be special.:groupray:

Sorry for your friend...my brother committed suicide...verry difficult for me because I had tried to minister to him before and was rejected....But my preacher told me...you never know what went on between him and God, passing from life to death...we must continue to have hope and press on, we do not know that we won't see them again...but I want to live as though we will. Going back to his apartment we found a bible open on the floor....I believe I will see him again. The moment between life and death, I believe their can still be repentence in the heart.

That is so difficult I know. My grandfater did the same time. It is so tragic and hard to understand ! It's my prayer that God will place his loving comforting arms around you and your friend and you cling tight to Him !!!! There are no easy words anyone can say during a loss , especially one like this , but know I will be lifting her up !

Suicide is a real, serious, and scary thing. I went through 2 years of major depression, and I wanted to commit suicide, but I just didn't have the guts and couldn't figure out a painless way. I never attempted anything, but I always wanted to. What makes someone want to commit suicide is an abscence of a meaning to live. The meaning of life is hard to find, and if you don't find it, sometimes you come to the conclusion that there is no meaning and no reason to live. But I now have the meaning of life. Everyone knows that God gave us free will so we could choose to love him, not just be mindless robots programed to love him, because there's no real love there. But what I figured out, that's why he gave us this life on Earth. It is our chance to make that decision to love him or not. So then you think, well I love him, now what? There's nothing left, why do I have to be here? This is meaningless. But that isn't it. Every decision we make in life will reflect the ultimate decision to love God or not, and then, you can take it to a higher level, and help others to love God and teach others to love God and show others God's love. That is the meaning of life. If we love God we will show it every day by every action we choose, and it's our job to show everyone else the love God has for them.

One there are people who will say suicide is unforgiveable sin. Now I don't believe that it is necessarily in all cases. If it were unforgiveable, Jesus would have said so. But Jesus only says that blasphemy of the holy spirit is unforgiveable.

Two there is a verse we must consider when we are tempted to judge the eternal fate of another or when we are trying to provide comfot. "I will have mercy on who I will have mercy" That is straight up God's word. Now I think it is very possible that God does extend his mercy to those who commit suicide.
