recently in this country we have had many suicides and the only reason they made the news was that they were done by prominent or popular people. one did it because of cyber bullies, others because of financial mistakes, and still others for loss f face.
one of my own students attempted suicide by drinking house cleaner, his reason the other students were bullying him andhe had problems with his parents. he will not be the same again.
when thoughts of suicide strike a person, they are NOT interested in a dissertation about what is suicide, they already know what it is. they do not need a 15 page thesis on the history of the act either, they do not care.
they also do not need some poster insulting another by saying they are ignorant when the insulter does not realize the limitations placed upon people who post on the internet. they also fail to realize that people read these boards, never bothering to register or let anyone know they are there, thus the simple message 'if you are thinking of suicide, find a true christian and get help' is the best message possible because we never know what little thing God will use to deter a person from killing themselves.
it is wise to say little until God provides the direction one should go in responding to a person's question. making an intellectual argument is not helping but distorting the issue and creating a mess.
if you are not equipped to handle a person's despair then direct the hurting person onto someone who can truly help andwho has thetime to invest to get the hurting person past their crisis. sometimes silence is the best help or a brief answer is all that is needed tomeet aneed.
trying to equate sacrifice with suicide is heresy and opens up a can of worms that should not have been opened and only instills confusion not clarity. confusion is NOT of God. answer the questions honestly, directly for if the person is intent on killing themselves no matter what, then there is nothing a person can say or do to stop that action.
there is no need to pontificate and marvel at one's own intellectual prowess, that undermines the situation and leads to disaster. and if you have to pntificate, then leave theissue to those of us who know how to deal with hurting people and be quiet. you are not helping nor are your brown nosing friends.
God heals people not intellectual discourse, God stops people from killing themselves not brown-nosers. so if you feel the need to interject checkfirst to see if your words are from God before saying anything. for if they are not thenthey are not helpping but making things worse.
