I get so upset at pastor's who say to come to Christ for a better life "Are you experiencing suffering, turn to God and your life will be better." "Come to Christ, God has a wonderful plan for your life." Really?? Are you really saying God will make our life better and our sufferings will be less??
I came across this website the other day when searching Muslim persecution of Christians and it really disturbed me..Since then I have been thinking about how we whine and cry over our troubles..How we get depressed and worried over these miniscule things..Do we really realize what actual suffering we could endure all in the name of Christ? We think we have it bad and cannot withstand much more of our sufferings..What if we had to live every single day in fear of being tied up and set on fire while mockers watched as our bodies were burned until death?...What if we had to live every single day in fear of being surrounded by Christ haters throwing enormous stones at us until we are dead?...What if we had to live every single day in fear of us or our children being charged at and attacked with a machete where each blow takes a chunck of flesh from our bones? What if we had to live every single day in fear of being tied up and told to renounce the name of Christ, and if we refused, we would be held down and our head would be slowly cut off with a mere knife? This stuff does actually happen in countries where Chrisitianity is illegal. The website I found had actual video of these horrific acts..It couldn't take much of it and it didn't take me long to have to stop watching it...If I couldn't even watch these things, I couldn't imagine having to live in fear of it happening to me..There will come a day when this will be the case in the entire world, not just in what we think are hostile countries..We will soon live in a hostile world. The way our country is going now in saying Christians are intollerant, is just one evidence in showing we will be headed in that direction. Are we going to think the sufferings we are enduring now are so bad once faced with living with these enormous fears?
