K...new game for you here,
The rules:
- For the first game, an 8 letter word shall be chosen by myself to start things off (no starting word may be greater than 8 letters)
- The next player subtracts a letter of their choosing so they have 7 letters and forms a new word using all these letters.
- a different player to that who just played must subtract a letter and form a 6 letter word
- This process repeats until a word with 4 letters is made.
- The person who made this word then comes up with a word of his/her own choosing and declares how many letters they think is the lowest possible to achieve with this starting word. (at least one less than the number of words at the start)
- If someone bids lower (min of 1 letter trivially!) then he/she is in the driving seat and has to ensure they can hit the target. If made (by any person) he/she gets to choose the next word. If they can't make it at some point then out of courtesy he/she should say: "I pass"
- play proceeds as normal and the onus is on everyone else to prevent him/her from hitting their target. If someone manages this they get to choose the next word instead. (If an hour elapses with no posts then the person who has to make their target is deemed to have failed)
- The idea is to stay in the driving seat for as long as possible
Example of play:
Starting word: DREAMING
player 1: READING
player 2: DARING
player 1: GRAIN
player 3: RANG
- Player 3 chooses a word now: MANAGER and declares a target of 4
- player 2 outbids with a target of 3
- Player 3 tells player 2 to go for it.
Starting Word MANAGER
player 2: MANGER
player 1: GAMER
player 3: GERM (figures that getting rid of the letter 'A' has made things difficult)
player 4: REG (player 3 declares this is as slang for 'registration' and that it is not allowed...player 2 would have made his/her target if it had been allowed)
player 2: GEM and wins
Now player 2 creates a word and declares his target
and play continues as above...
Now to play properly:
