• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I had great success with suboxone, and I had a big opiate habit. The started at 16mgs a day but I realized that was not necessary for me personally so I went down to 8mgs a day after a couple months and stayed there for almost a year. I eventually decided to just taper off myself because the doctor has no desire for me to get off of it because it would be less cash in his pocket. So I started cutting down about a mg every couple weeks until I was down to about a mg a day for a couple weeks, then I jumped off. I should have tapered down more before I jumped off because the withdrawals sucked, but they were no where near as intense as I had from regular opiates in the past and the WDs didn't last very long. The worst was over within a week, and a couple weeks later I was starting to feel regular. I've been Suboxone free for a few months now, and I feel pretty normal for the most part. And of course God is the main reason for that. I hear horror stories about suboxone but I might be dead if I didn't go into sub. treatment.

Daniel, this is an encouraging story! Im so happy that you used that medicine responsibly and did not suffer too much w/ WD. Sometimes I wonder at my age, 48, if life-long maintainence is necessary. I have a bad back and arthritis but w/ Gods help, refuse all pain meds now. ( thats a miracle, trust me) Luckily, my pain is managable now but will it be in 5 years? Subsux.com got me VERY concerned after reading about longterm use. And it IS NOT inexpensive! Sheesh!

Anyhow, glad to hear you are free! God does not want us in prisons and bondage. Bless ya!

Naw, bad insurance for me. Than i fear dependecy on that! So 24 hours a day. I just pray to God to lead me daily. Becuz being older w/ my aging joints/back etc. Its tough in the morning, but tolerable. I could use a prayer today. :)
