  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It reminds me of something I used to do years ago, and I've been thinking of doing it again. I used to be into model railroading. And I managed to snag an awesome deal on both HO and G scale engines, cars, track and buildings. So I would load them up in a few boxes in the back of my truck, and drive out in the desert for a few days.

I would find a spot, and build a model railroad diorama right there. I got to where I could do some pretty good work. Using a 35 mm camera, it would look so realistic, even ghost town buffs would take a second glance at them. And after building the dioramas I would...play with them. Hey, it's my life. I worked my *** off back then (for pay), I'll do what I want with my money and time when I'm off from work. Some people don't get that.

No longer have the train collection, moved a few times, stuff got put in storage, storage gets broken into, you get the picture. :(

But I had a great time!

If its something you enjoy doing, you so SHOULD get back into it!! Sounds like you had a lot of fun with it!

Im sorry you no longer have the train collection. Do you still have photos of the dioramas etc that you took back then?

Its weird how some people have a perception of what they think people should and shouldnt be interested in, or like doing, at different ages. I used to be a chronic people pleaser. I still have to fight it at times, but for the most part, I dont do that anymore. Anyways, Ive just recently purchased a "new" car. For years Ive wanted purple and black zebra car seat covers. I managed to knock the car dealer down a fair bit in price, so I used the money I saved to have custom car seat covers made, along with accessories...all lufferly purple and black patterned! :D Anyways, I had someone ask me the other day if Im going thru a mid life crisis! I had the same thing happen when I got my nose pierced, and eyebrow pierced a couple of years ago!! Im recovering from a heap of crap thats happened in the past, and finally I like who I am, so the piercings, car seat covers etc are just part of me expressing my personality! It craps me off that I feel like Ive got to justify the changes that Ive made in my life, in bigger ways such as the break up of my marriage a few years ago, setting boundaries with people and being more assertive, and eliminating some people from my life etc, and in the smaller ways like how I dress, the car seat covers etc.

Aaaaanyways, mini rant over! :D

I'd love to at some point. Yeah, it was fun!

Nah. Lost it all. :(

My life is my life. If they wanna tell me how to live my life, then they best grow a pair and try to do something about me ignoring them. I've gotten in a few fist fights over it.

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional. I have a friend who epitomizes this...got to watch out for juvenile pranks. :o

Like that quote! :)

If they are the kinda pranks where they scare you, I wouldnt cope with them.

I was just thinking about the 1st birthday party of one of my friends, that I went to. It was a really hot day, and they had provided a lil paddle pool for the kids to sit and play in. As the day wore on, and many people had left, a couple of adults decided to throw water at each other. It started off with just a couple of people...buuuut gradually included most people that were there. Aaanyways, next thing, one of the guys decided it would be a brilliant idea to shake the crap out of a bottle of soft drink, and spray people with it.....which then lead to someone else grabbing some of the leftover cake...running up to the person spraying soft drink, and proceeded to dump cake on his head! It was on like Donkey Kong then!! ^_^

I had managed at that point to escape with just some water being tipped on me. I went up to help a friend to start wiping cake off..aaaand she took one look at me...grabbed cake...and rubbed it in my hair! Just after that, the guy who had been spraying soft drink got hold of a passionfruit flavoured bottle (which was a LOVELY shade of...yellow), and got me with it! By the end of it, we were all laughing hysterically, with the kids all looking at us like we were nuts! ^_^

I hosed myself down and dried off so I could drive home. When I got home and looked in the mirror, I looked like a drowned rat, and smelled sickly sweet! When I went into the shower, the water coming off me was in some parts yellow, and some parts blue, from the icing. :D

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It was one of the best parties I had been to! :D

And in case your wondering, nope...no alcohol was involved! ^_^

Great story, Dory. I've never been at a party that went that way! Don't know if I'd let myself let go like that or not!

I had never been to a party that ended up like that either! If I hadnt been there, and was told about what happened, I think I probably would have been like..eeeeewww! But it really was sooo much fun just kind of let go, and not worry about the mess, the chaos of it all, what my hair looked like etc, if that makes sense.

Yes, it is. I've valued freedom since Jr. High. Its rather amazing how hard it is to be free when Jesus set us free and we live in a society that was founded on the idea of freedom. I guess if I was in a society that was really oppressive I'd probably never really been able to get very far with with getting free.

I went to a work party last night for Kohls. They had 2 bouncy things set up out back. One was a wrecking ball and the other was basketball hoops.
It was SO much fun! I couldn't get myself standing on the platform without falling off and we were all bouncing around and laughing SO hard! Then inside we had Kareoke which at first no one would sing, but later in the evening people were singing in groups and we were all singing along..again SO much fun! One girl was hysterical, she was playing air guitar and later she even had an air microphone (it was the stand with no mic in it LOL. And ALL of that happened with no alcohol too. VERY fun and I'm glad I went.

Michelle .. that sounds like it was so good for you to get out and have a night of fun. Nice.

I had more fun than I expected for a "work" party which was held at work. Someone in some other store got hurt at a company party so now we cannot have any parties unless they are on the premises which sucks for people with kids/families because they were not allowed and in the past they were.

As far as acting "mature" I'm a big kid at heart and I don't really care what people think about that. I can laugh just as easily at myself as I can with myself and I like to have fun so...I guess I'll always be a ToysRus kid :D

You work party sounds like it was AWESOME!! I would LOVE to go to a party like that! :D

Its sad that they can only have work parties on the work premises, with none of the past staff being allowed to come. The whole liability, people suing thing has gone beyond a joke, IMO. Ive heard of so many businesses going bust, because they cant afford the risk of someone getting hurt, and sued!

A guy over here even sued the Shire, when he dove in the water in a river, and broke his neck when he hit his head on a submerged log! I feel for the guy hurting himself, however, you take a risk diving into ANY water where you cant see the depth and what lays beneath the surface. The guy won, and was awarded a HUGE sum of money. Just insane!

Good for you hun! I reckon its great to be able to have a giggle at ourselves! I laugh all the time at my ditzyness! Im clumsy, and often run into things, and trip over things! :D
