  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, a lot of you know I moved into a new apartment complex recently. It is in (what I thought was) a good area of town, gated, security, etc... I have been here a little over a week now and everything has been awesome. I have some good neighbors (and by that, I mean some really hot chicks live here) I am closer to work, an I love on a golf course.

Well, this morning I am heading out to go to work, and when I get in my car, I notice the steering column was bouncing around. Weird, I thought. So I reached under the column and pushed up the lock to lock my steering wheel back in place. Then, I look over and noticed my paperwork and manual to my car in the floor board and the glove box was open. Then, I opened up my center console area to find my iPod, iPod tuner/charger, and my can of pepper spray was missing from the console!

Rant On
Some punk kids tried to steal my freaking car! I am guessing it was some punk teens based on the iPod and such being the only thing they stole while leaving behind about $500 worth of ammo and magazines (the kind for guns, not the kind you read) my pike pass, and other stuff that I had just picked up from a buddy to deliver to my cousin.

Why do people have to go out and take what isn't theirs? I worked really hard to have the things I have. My salary isn't much but I work hard for my money and I save that money to buy the things I have. Then some lazy worthless turd wants to come steal what I worked for because he/she doesn't want to work?

Now, I am probably going to lay awake all night wondering whether or not someone is going to try and steal my car. I hope it is some punk thug who loves heavy metal or rap music and my iPod gets stuck on a really annoying country song over and over and they can't get it to shut off.

Now, I am stuck at the house waiting for a police officer to come by and make a report so the apartment complex has a record of what happened. Oh yeah, and it made me late to work this morning on my first week on the job. That is always awesome!

I feel ya coach....I live in a pretty decent neighborhood and know most of my neighbors but about a year ago I accidentally left my truck unlocked (which I usually never do) and the next day when we were going to church, my son came and asked me if I was searching for something in the truck because the back seats were flipped up and the doors were open! Well all they got was all my cd's that were in there and a canvas bag that I carry back and forth to work. But the real bummer was, that inside that canvas bag I had my wedding ring because the diamond had fallen out and it needed repaired, so THAT was the only thing of value they took but probably didn't even notice. The CD's were mostly ALL christian music so I laughed when I realized THAT! The police took my report over the phone and then about a week later I noticed that there was a hand print on the truck cuz I hadn't washed it yet. I called the cops back but they would not come out to see if they could lift a print. They said it was too late!!!! Shortly after that, we found out (by seeing the cops tape off the street) that around the corner they busted a crack house so we're thinking THAT was the reason for the increase in crime in our neighborhood. But I'm with ya coach WHY WHY WHY do people have to take things that don't belong to them. Now I am without my wedding ring that my deceased husband gave me because some stupid crack thief had to find my truck unlocked!!! I know it's ultimately my fault and I take responsibility for leaving my truck unlocked but it STILL ticks me off!

I am 99.99% sure my car was locked. I always lock my car and even hit the lock button until the car honks at me to make 100% sure it's locked. I know I did that yesterday when I was coming in the house. So, I guess there is always that slim chance I didn't lock it, but I am pretty dang sure I locked it.

Fortunately, most newer models are not easy to hotwire and it actually takes someone with a fair amount of skill to take one. And the other good thing is the mustang does not have a trunk release in the car, so they could not get into my trunk where I had a stereo and about 200 CDs that I was going to be taking to my classroom at school as well as my wrestling shoes and all my wrestling gear.

If I hear any noises outside tonight, I am charging the parking lot in my underwear with an axe in hand.

That should be enough to scare off any potential thieves for good.

We've had a bunch of break-ins in the parking lot at work. During broad daylight. We live by an apartment complex that is rife with crime. Needless to say, I make it a point not to leave anything in my car — or at least in plain sight. I wish I could wire my car to explode in the event of someone trying to steal it.

When I went to Ohio State, the general rule around campus was to take all valuables out of your car at all times and leave the doors unlocked, because if you lock your car doors there, it just means people will break your windows to get in. It really sucked, but I just made sure I had nothing in my car worth stealing ever... Sorry this happened to you coach, always surprising when something like that happens at a nice place, but nowhere is 100% safe from crime :(

I guess this is one advantage to having an old, relatively crappy-looking car lol.

I've had my home (when I lived with my parents) broken into once when we weren't there, and once had an attempt when I was home alone with my infant son; that one terrified me for weeks afterward.

It's usually drugs. Addicts will do anything - and I mean anything, to the point of stealing from/endangering family - to pay a debt or get money for a high. It's disgusting.
