• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just wondering if anyone else gets any compulsions they feel make no sense and yet somehow cause and relieve anxiety. Some of mine are so stupid it's embarrassing to be too explicit but I find I have to touch things in a certain way...say my toe inside my boot or my tongue against my teeth...I think a certain symmetrical need is felt. It prolly sounds well whacky but just wondered if anyone else gets anything like this. Cheers...take care, Rachel

All the time! I thought I was the only one, lol. Yeah my latest strange ones are I have to dry my hair a certain way, or if I scratch one side of my body i feel i must do the same on the other side...I hate those compulsions the most, even more then my main triggers.

Hey thanks all for your replies...it's good to have people who can relate, though for your sakes I wish you couldn't...I think I have heard this happens with others as well but just wondered if anyone could relate here. Thanks for being honest even though I know these things can be embarrassing. And hey FineLinen25 yours is so not beyond silly...you should see the things I do...it's compulsive behaviour and it sucks and I'm sorry you're bothered by this. I hope maybe reading all these posts helps you and others to realise they're not just being silly...oh and btw welcome to the forum!!

Take care and thanks again everyone, Rachel

You... have... no...idea! ;)

Like others, I've had these exact--and I do mean exact--same issues... and many, many more.

Like you I've been embarrassed about talking about such things, in fact even discussing my OCD with others. Then again, that's pretty typical for people who suffer with OCD - we tend to keep it to ourselves. In fact, today is the first time I've ever posted about having OCD myself.

Don't worry... you're not alone. ;)
