  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A TONGUE IN CHEEK TESTAMONY WITH INTERPRETATION TO FOLLOW....
PART 9 of 14 (PROPITIATION)

Depravity

I was born as bad off as I could get. I couldn't stop doing things totally wrong and I knew that before I'd really lived, I knew I was condemned to die. That old wicked one that ruled this world had me rocked to sleep in his arms. I had no idea how lost I really was. I mean, I lived in the material world and my whole self moved in the physical, yet half of me was dead. I couldn't have pleased God if I'd tried b/c I was totally unable to. I was not only spiritually dead, but I was accountable for sins of mine and also sins I'd inherited. But the most fearsome thing of all was that I was under the control of Satan. I needed help desperately.

Grace

It was at this time that I looked up and saw Jesus standing there, reaching His hand toward me. He said he to wanted to show me the way to safety and this way was now mine. It made me feel so good when He said that in this "gracious state" He would be with me to supply all my needs.

Regeneration (Born again)

I began to wonder how all of this was possible and must have asked out loud b/c Jesus said that He would tell me of "our Father's" plan. He actually said that He's my Father, too. Am I awake? Anyway, our Father has a plan to bring His children home. Jesus called it a "new birth". He said our Father had made the plan for us and Jesus made it happen by laying aside His heavenly power to come live among us. Then when the creation (in actuality) killed the creator, God rose Jesus up, along with His human body, up from the dead. And the Holy Spirit carries on the work Jesus began. (This Holy Spirit is apparently also responsible for the wake-up call on my spiritual self) (I'm beginning to see how important that is)
But for the most it was getting way over my head. And being a wee baby christian, over my head was not high up.
So, He continued on, in His loving voice, to tell me that to have a new nature I needed to have a new father. (What! Satan gets the boot from my life?) My Father wasn't giving me a new body, but He was giving me a new life.
The Holy Spirit awakens new areas in my life as God speaks His Word into it. He says it's like a soda pop that grows larger as bubbles are blown into it. I think I actually understood that.
And so, know what I did? I just looked at Jesus and reached out my hand to Him. And He did the most amazing thing! He put my hand in my Father's Hand! I couldn't believe my ears when my Father said "On the basis of Jesus' shed blood on the cross, you may now call me Father."

Imputation (setting to one's account)

Then, as I stood open-mouthed, God took a huge book marked "accounts" and said He was going to record our transaction. I didn't understand what He meant but as I peered at what He was doing it began to make sence. First I saw that my account had a huge debt going all the way back to Adam and Eve. Then I saw Him cross off all my debts and transfer them into Jesus' account. Jesus is now responsible for all of my debts!! And if that isn't amazing enough, He also transfered all of Jesus' credit into my account!! I knew that gave me the right to get into heaven itself! I couldn't believe it!! Me, a nobody, and here's this Jesus saying to the Father " She has sinned. I don't plead for leniency. I don't ask you to ignore her sin. But" Jesus said to Him "I offer you a full and complete payment. Charge it all to my account" And the heavenly Father accepted. I must be in heaven!!!

Substitution (Why?)

When the shock of this most amazing thing had worn off I was left with only one question. "WHY?" I was then led to understand (thru the Spirit, I guess, I don't know, but I suddenly just knew) the neccesity of accepting payment from Someone else. From Someone like me, yet unlike me, sinless, as a substitute for my debt. Because if He didn't pay for them, then I was going to have to pay for them myself and the price was beyond description.

Repentance

Suddenly I was standing face to face with the truth. My thoughts began to move in a different direction. I realized what my former status was; that thru accepting help I had accepted God's offer to meet the need in my life. I no longer saw things in the same light. Once I was lost and didn't know I needed a Savior. I hadn't known how guilty and helpless I was. Thank You God, Jesus has found me. Thank You God that You found me Jesus.

Redeemption

You know, I really see Jesus as a kinda big brother to me. I'll be honest with you. I was on the slaveblock of the world. Now I know a purchase was neccesary. Big Bro accomplished that for me. And it wasn't so easy for Him to make it so that I never see that slave market again. The price was blood and thew method of payment was thru death. He's my redeemer and He says the destination He's bringing me to (and my body as well, in a better form) is a glorious inheritance. Can you believe this? All for free!

Reconciliation

Oh this is weird. I could hear someone speaking to me in the Spirit. God was saying that according to him the world is out of balance and needs to conform to the standards he has set. So, what did that mean to me? Well, I knew that Adam had provoked ALL my priveles originally and Jesus had given them back to me...so...I listened carefully. He was sating that He'd been right all along and that now I was back on His wavelength, not Him on my wavelength. I knew this was a new dimension brought on by what jesus did. People need to be told about this or how will they know that's it's here. God has the way for the world to return to Him. He didn't need to return to me but I needed to return to Him.

PROPITIATION

OK, so let me get this straight
Jesus redeemed me: brought me out of sin
I'm reconciled to God: Jesus opened the door to God
God is free to act on my account:

I know now that I can't change God's attitude toward me because i know inside He is loving and merciful ( He's not like those heathens whose form of good sport is spearing fish in a bucket, who take verse out of context to hang their dirty pool doctrine on and who are repelled by goodness in others)
I only need to speak softly to Him for him to hear me. The concern He has for my needs and the delight he has in meeting them has found a home in my heart Bambi

Doctrine of PROPITIATION (Part 9 of 14)

1 John 2
1My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for[a] the sins of the whole world.
3We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
7Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. 8Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.
9Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. 10Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him[c] to make him stumble.

(1 Kings 18:27,36-38)

Elijah voices the concept that a heathen god was indifferent to needs of mankind and they needed to arouse interest or concern to gain favor.
In contrast, Elijah simply came to God with a sacrifice which he offered in simple faith. God heard and God answered Elijah.

(God revealed thru the scriptures and the person of Jesus Christ, is not that of the human concept, but a God of infinite love, mercy, and grace, concerned with the needs of His creatures, moved to meet their needs and delights to pour love, mercy and grace on them)

*( God's attitude doesn't need to be changed to meet our needs)*

3 GREAT DOCTRINAL WORDS

1)REDEMPTION= sinward aspect of death of Christ in which Jesus Christ by His death, purchased out of the slavemarket of sin those who were shackled and bound.

2) RECONCILIATION= manward aspect of death of Christ. Sinners who were separated from God by a great gulf, have now been made nigh.

3) PROPITIATION= Godward aspect of the value of the death of Christ. The love of God unloosed and God free to act on behalf of sinners

Anticipating the propitiating work of Jesus Christ

1) Holy God unapproachable b/c of sinfullness of man.(need of atonement)
(blood applied to the mercy seat so that God, who must be appropriated, could look upon the broken Law contained within the Ark and He could be merciful to mankind)
((people of Israel's debt was deterred for another year))

2) Romans 3:25
God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,[a] through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—
Hebrews 9:28
so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

3) Sin sent Jesus Christ to calvary
Isaiah 53:6
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

(sin caused the animal to be offered on the day of attonement for Israel. Sin caused Christ to be offered on the cross for the nations)

Summary Propitiation

A) Christ offered Himself to God
Hebrews 9:13-14
For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

B) offered what could make propitiation
Heb 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Hebrews 9:22
And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.

C) body of Christ becomes the new mercy seat
1 Peter 2:24
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

-Jesus Christ propitiated the Father
-Jesus Christ alone could offer Himself, so God could give grace
-not an earthly altar, but by His own body
-Christ's blood propitiates and the sinner recieves the benefits

The self-righteous Pharisee, sought to change God's attitude by his prayer, offerings, conduct and deeds.
The publican put himself under the blood which gave God basis for dealing with him in mercy and grace.

JUSTIFICATION

So what is the logical conclusion of all this? Is it just that a Holy and Righteous God accepts me, a sinner, into His Presence? There had to be more. And He mentioned "glorification" and said that was yet to come. For now all I could figger out was that God's saving work takes place instantaneously upon faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no logical procession. IT JUST IS.
In God's sight I am righteous and complete, thanks to Jesus. And there is nothing that belongs to Him that He has not shared with me, apart from His essential dignity. It's all so overwhelming and amazing. Outside of Christ and His work I'm guilty and condemned to God's wrath. Yet to be with Christ I stand equited.
My oh so imperfect mind finds it hard to wrap around these facts. I mean, ..what God is doing...to think I needed..needed... Jesus' blood.
It's now so easy to believe. And i feel that I'm no longer alone. I'm still in this the world but the material and the physical aspects of life are now under the control of the spirituality within me. I feel whole now, I find myself wanting to do good b/c of the place of high esteem I find myself.

Doctrine Of JUSTIFICATION

Deuteronomy 25
1 “If there is a dispute between men, and they come to court, that the judges may judge them, and they justify the righteous and condemn the wicked,

(The righteous are acquited according to Messiac Law)
(When God sits in judgement it is according to truth and righteousness)
( How can a Holy and righteous God accept sinners into His presence?)

1) logical conclusion of a process:

(God's saving work takes place instantaneously upon faith in the Lord Jesus Christ)
(No chronical developement , logical developement, or progression)

Romans 8:29-30
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

(Justification is viewed as God's climatic act in His saving work. It can be followed only by our glorification when we are transformed into the image of His son in glory)

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

(all our old relationships have been severed)
(members (citizens ) of a new country)
(To Be In Christ is to be made Righteous)
(no fault, no guilt, no basis for condemnation)
(recieve forgiveness and experience redemption)

2) Made righteous

Romans 3:24-25
being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,

(a covering for sins) (sin question settled)

3) perfected in Christ

Hebrews 10:14
For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

(to be brought to full maturity)
(God views us as mature adult children in His family)

4) recieved the fullness of Christ

John 1:16
And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

Col 2:9
" Colossians 2:9
For Christ is not only God-like, He is God in human flesh.

(There is nothing that belongs to Him that he has not shared us, apart from His essential diety)
(This is our portion)

We recieve Christ in the outer court of the court of justice and clothed in His robe of righteousness mature in the Son.
Taking myself thru the courtyard to before the bar of justice upon whose bench a Holy and Righteous God presides.
Outside of Christ and His work= guilty conemned, under wrath
In Christ= acquitted

...7 Aspects of justification

1) justified by God

Romans 8:30
Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Romans 8:33
Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

2) justified by blood

Romans 3:24-26
being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

3) faith as the instrument

Romans 3:28
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

Romans 5
Faith Triumphs in Trouble
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have[a] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

4) grace as the essence

Romans 3:24
being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus

5) justified by the Spirit

(agent of a new birth)
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

6) works as evidence of justification

James 2:21
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?

James 2:24-25
You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

7) justified in Christ

2 Corinthians 5:21
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

(Position of one crucified)

PART 11 of 14 (SECURITY)

Depravity

I was born as bad off as I could get. I couldn't stop doing things totally wrong and I knew that before I'd really lived, I knew I was condemned to die.

The concern He has for my needs and the delight he has in meeting them has found a home in my heart.

SANCTIFICATION

iT WASN'T JUST THAT I FELT SO SET APART FROM ALL THAT I'D EVER KNOWN. BUT I KNEW I WAS ESTABLISHED IN THE FATHER'S EYES, AS A FINISHED WORK, SET APART AS HIS BELOVED. I ALSO KNOW THAT HE WILL WORK AT AWAKENING MY SPIRIT TO MOVE HIGHER 'TILL I FILL THE POSITION OF BEING FAULTLESS IN HIS PRESENCE. WOW, THIS STUFF IS SO TOO MUCH! I HAVE SO MUCH GOING FOR ME. THERE'S JESUS WHO SET ME APERT WHEN HE GAVE HIS LIFE AND BLOOD FOR ME ON THE CROSS, CLEANSING THE CRUD OF SIN FROM ME. AND OUR FATHER WHO SAID HE "WANTED ME" TO LIVE WITHIN HIS SPOKEN WORD. AND THEN THERE'S THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO SETS ME APART DAILY BY APPLYING THE BENEFITS OF JESUS' WORK ON MY LIFE. AND FOR MY PART I JUST NEED FAITH THAT WHAT GOD TELLS ME IS TRUE. THEN ALL THAT I HAVE BEEN PROMISED WILL BE MINE.

(see posts 437-439 for bible references to sanctification)

SECURITY

But how could I be sure? Had He really saved me or had He only provided a chance to be saved? I mean, does He do this healing thing for me? or am I supposed to contribute something on my part? How could I find out? I decided then and there to test this "coming to our Father thru Jesus Christ thing."
I screamed out "Will this alwys be mine?" I was so afraid I would mess it up. Jesus said" Some people use me as if by my death they inherit all I stand for, but reject that I am alive and full of power. Have truth behind your convictions and you will not lose rewards. That is your work. But this is the work of God for you; The Father's work is basic to your security, b/c He is able to keep and save you. His only offer being eternal life. His offer of love is the basis of security. My work," Jesus continued " is to provide a payment no enemy can ever challenge to your being at home in God's presence. And the Holy Spirit's work is to permenantly construct a temple within you placing God's seal upon you. As I am to the Father so also are you to Him. Do you understand now that now I would never leave you" Yes, I thought perhaps I did.

DOCTRINE OF SECURITY (12 of 14)

John 10:22-39

The Shepherd Knows His Sheep

22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. 23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. 24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. 26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.[a] 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”

Renewed Efforts to Stone Jesus

31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. 32 Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”
33 The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”
34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”’? 35 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), 36 do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? 37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38 but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe[c] that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.” 39 Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand.

(Has God provided salvation, or has God just provided us with a chance for salvation to those who accept Jesus Christ as a personal savior?)
(Does God do a saving work for mankind? or does mankind contribute something to their own salvation?)

FALL FROM GRACE = REJECTION OF JESUS CHRIST

Galatians 5:4

4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

1 Timothy 4
The Great Apostasy
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

(Unredeemed mankind who hold to THE FORM OF GODLINESSS WHILE DENYING THE POWER THEREOF)

John 15:6 (keyword ABIDING)
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

(no truth behind their confession)

Hebrews 6 states basically that the record must stand and failures are not erased by going back and being saved all over again.

THE UNFAITHFUL LOSE REWARDS

John 15:2
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away;[a] and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

1 Corinthians 3:15
15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

THE WORK OF THE FATHER

(A)Purpose of God,( basic to our Security )

Ephesians 1:4
4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

Hebrews 2:10
Bringing Many Sons to Glory

10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

(B) The Power of God (to keep and save)

John 10:29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

(God is able to keep)

Romans 8:31-34
God’s Everlasting Love

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(C) Promise of God (basic to our security)

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 5:24
Life and Judgment Are Through the Son

24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

(D) Love of God (basic also to our security)

Romans 5:7-9

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

JESUS CHRIST'S WORK

(A) Provision of Son (basic to our security)

Romans 8
Free from Indwelling Sin
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit

(Author of eternal salvation)

Hebrews 5:8-9
8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

(IT IS FINISHED. PAID in FULL)

(B) Resurrection of Jesus Christ (provision for our security)

Ephesians 2:6
6 and (God) raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
(no enemy can challenge our being at home in God's presence)

(C) Jesus our advocate (basis for our security)

Hebrews 9:24
24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;
(pleads the benifit of His death and value of His blood)

(D) His work as a Shepard (guarantee of our security)

John 10:27-28
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

Hebrews 7:25
25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

John 17:11-16
11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me,[a] that they may be one as We are. 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept;[c] and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

HOLY SPIRIT'S WORK

(A) HIS INDWELLING (BASIC TO OUR SECURITY)

Ephesians 2:22
22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

(permanant, not temporarily)

(the temple is now constructed of living stones)

(B) Baptism of the Holy Spirit (secure and safe)

1 Corinthians 12:13
13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into[a] one Spirit.

Ephesians 5:27
27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

(The bride is made up of many individuals. If any be missing , the love-gift from Father to Son would be imperfect.)

(C) Sealing work of the Spirit (making us secure)

Ephesians 1:13-14
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who[a] is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

(The Holy Spirit is God's God's irrremovable , identifyable brand)

SUMMARY

God Himself secures those who seek Him as a refuge. He provides Jesus.
Noah was provided with an ark that He went into and God secured him inside. Jesus is our ark:
The Consummation of Love

17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.

John 10:
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

A TONGUE IN CHEEK TESTAMONY WITH INTERPRETATION TO FOLLOW....
PART 13 of 14 (PREDESTINATION)

IMPUTATION

SUBSTITUTION

REDEMPTION

You know, I really see Jesus as a kinda big brother to me. I'll be honest with you. I was on the slaveblock of the world. Now I know a purchase was neccesary. Big Bro accomplished that for me. And it wasn't so easy for Him to make it so that I never see that slave market again. The price was blood and thew method of payment was thru death. He's my redeemer and He says the destination He's bringing me to (and my body as well, in a better form) is a glorious inheritance. Can you believe this? All for free!

Do you understand now that now I would never leave you" Yes, I thought perhaps I did.

PREDESTINATION

But having adventured thus far into conversation with the great "I AM" now I asked if he could possibly explain to my limited mind all about the infinite God. Why am I here? Am I a part of the purpose and the plan? What, where, and when and how and all of it? Please tell me Lord, I need to know.
"You cannot possibly know it all, " He answered me, "yet listen to this. God settled upon one plan, in the beginning, and He had one purpose. He established an irreversable decree - that is based on the law of love. In doing so He limited Himself to a specific course of action. He knew the events that would take place and no human will can ever set limits on them. God also knows who will be included in His plan and who will fulfill His Divine purpose. He elects those based on His will and not on whether they are good or evil, from amongst all of the lost. All humans are cursed, but election is of grace ; to conform you to My glory. Our Father's will, will be accomplished.
And thru the ministry of the Holy Spirit, He will give you the power to respond. No one can come to Me unless the Father has sent him. All are rendered savable yet all are not called. You could not be here unless He had enabled you to respond. And He did that b/c it suited His purpose to do so."

DOCTRINE of PREDESTINATION Part 1 of 6

Romans 8:28-39
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:

“ For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”[a]
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

PREDESTINATION

(with our limited minds we try to understand an infinate God)

(fore-ordination/ predestination/ foreknowledge/ election/ predetermination/ calling are all used interchangebly)

6 Aspects in THE DEVELOPEMENT OF GODS ETERNAL PURPOSES ( Part 1 )

1) FORE_ORDAINED ( to determine beforehand )

(God planned the use of each part of creation and purpose)

Ephesians 1:4
4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

(God pre-determined a purpose and a plan)

Ephesians 1:5
5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

(God didn't create evil, but evil was worked into His plan)

Ephesians 1:11
11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

( God designed the type of being nesssecary to recieve the revelation of His glory. One who would ascribe majesty and power to God)

1 Corinthians 2:7
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,

(Hense, the determining of a plan before the plan was put into operation)

28 You will also declare a thing,
And it will be established for you;
So light will shine on your ways.

(This limits God to that specific course of action)

Daniel 11:36
36 “Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done.

Luke 22:22
And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!”

(God determined what Jesus would do in ministry, life and death.)

(God had forordained the event)

PREDESTINATION 4 OF 6
ELECTION (CALLED OUT, SELECTED)

(A separation unto Himself)
(God working thru individuals to fulfill the Divine Purpose)

Romans 9:11-13
11 (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), 12 it was said to her, “The older shall serve the younger.” 13 As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.”

(God does the electing based on His will)

CALLED (PART 6 OF 6)
(GOD SUMMONS UNTO HIMSELF. CONSUMING ACT)

(God sees to it that His purpose will be accomplished. Those whom He has chosen unto Himself will be brought to Himself, that His foreknown and predetermined program might be brought to consumation)

Romans 8:30
30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified

(God's call is not a call to the human will asking the human will, unaided by His grace, to respond. God's call is also God's enablement)

(God, who issues the call, imparts the power thru the ministry of the Holy Spirit to respond)

John 6:44
44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

The sinner who is dead, who is without life, who is under condemnation and judgement, may hear God's call, and altho he has no power in himself b/c he is dead, and no desire to respond b/c God has been put out of his life,he is enabled by the Holy Spirit to respond to the gracious invitation.

"Whosoever will may come"

(whosoever is unlimited. All mankind are rendered savable, yet only those will respond whom God calls to Himself thru His efficacious grace)

2 Peter 1:10
10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;

(The child of God who grows in grace and in the knowledge of our Lors and Savior Jesus Christ and who submits himself to God and his Father thru Jesus Christ, has evidence within himself that he/she is a child of God)

(An infinite, sovereign God, has foreordained every minute detail of our lives from before the foundation of the world)

(God, in infinate grace, called us out of night into His Love, out of death into His life, and set us apart unto Himself, not b/c of what we are, but b/c it suited God's eternal, soveriegn purpose so to do)

A TONGUE IN CHEEK TESTAMONY WITH INTERPRETATION TO FOLLOW....
PART 14 of 14 (RESSURECTION)

I needed help desperately

IMPUTATION

SUBSTITUTION

REDEMPTION

He was saying that He'd been right all along and that now I was back on His wavelength, not Him on my wavelength.

The concern He has for my needs and the delight he has in meeting them has found a home in my heart.

And there is nothing that belongs to Him that He has not shared with me, apart from His essential diety.

RESSURECTION

"But" said I, "what is the final outcome for me then?" I knew I was pushing it but, well, "could you be more specific? Like where do I fit into this cosmic plan? I know it's in relationship to what You did, but, like, how?" My brain was stalling for time so I could think, but hey, really, where were we going with this? I suppose what I really wanted to know was, what about death? How do I get from here to there?
Amazingly He picked up exactly where my thoughts left off. "My purpose" my Lord began " was foretold from the beginning of mankind thru Words spoken by God's chosen people. The prophesies were fulfilled when I came for the purpose of giving life (I knew He meant the awakening of the spiritual life) (I was catching on) to those who believe that I lived on the earth and that I died and that our Father has given a powerful new life in heaven, having the same body as before death. All this was done for the purpose of giving you gifts in this life ans also the gift of eternal life.
All those who believe this is true will join Me. I Am the proof that God can do this for you also. I, Jesus, was the first to show you where death leads. When i arose from the dead I gave you power in your life and I will maintain that for you. That same power is what carries you heavenly, your spirit first and your body to follow, after physical death, to be with Me forever. Trust Me for it. This is My work."

IN CONCLUSION

Wow, that wasn't a dream.!! I've never been so awake. No longer will Satan hold me on his wicked lap and lay sleepdust on me.
You know, everybody needs Jesus, the Son of God, to live in this glorious state of being forever young. And also to show you how to stay on the road to happiness. The devil has counterfits all around but a partnership with the Risen Lord will bring us thru.
All that is required of you is to know in your heart that you need a savior as well as believe the Lord will forgive you for everything you've ever done (all unclean thoughts and motives as well)
Tell Him you know His hand is reaching for you and will pull you out of the devil's and the world's grasp.
And don't grieve the Spirit by returning to your old evil ways. That would show your heart was not on heavenly things. Know that Jesus is there for you, every time, for all your joys and sorrows. He will never turn His back on you.
Please don't turn your back on Him.

Join me in this prayer

You are my most trusted and faithful friend
Creator of heaven and earth
No one else is worthy of my praise.
Thank You for providing the Way for me
into eternal life.
I trust You for all my needs today.
I renounce all my evil ways.
As You have shown kindness to me
I will show kindness to others.
Keep me from the snare of the evil one
and carry me thru times of trouble.
For only You, my King, can do this
b/c You have the power over all
and Your Kingdom will last forever.
Thank You for including me.
In Jesus' Holy Name I pray. Amen

(God has a book out. Be sure to study it well.)

DOCTRINE of SANCTIFICATION

1 Corinthians 1
Greeting
1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Glory Only in the Lord

26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.”

SANTIFICATION= WHAT IT IS NOT
A) does not refer to improvement in practical holiness
-scripture reveals that the Father and the Son both sanctify themselves

B) doesn't imply a state of holiness in which it is impossible to sin

UNDERSTANDING "Sanctify" "holiness" "Saint"

>SANCTIFY= Set Apart (used 100 plus x in OT, 30 x in NT)

John 17:18-19
18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.

(Jesus was set apart by the Father to do the work)
(The disciples were set apart by Jesus to continue to reveal the Father)

Hebrews 10:9
9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.”[a] He takes away the first that He may establish the second.

(Jesus set Himself apart totally and completely to the will of God)

>HOLY= Set apart from that which is unholy (used 400 plus x OT. 12 X NT)

Hebrews 7:26
26 For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who isholy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens;

(Jesus Christ was set apart by not being guilty of sin)

>Saint= Child of God, set apart unto God (62 x in NT)

1 Corinthians 1:2
2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

All 3 words have a common connotation, and they all signify that which is set apart to God.
All primarilly have to do with one's position, not one's experience or their practice.

THE DIVINE VIEWPOINT

God looks at His child, He sees His child as set apart unto Himself; He sees His child as being set apart from sin;He sees His child as one who is a saint, beloved of the Father. This, then, is our position.

tbc 3 aspects of the believer's sanctification etc.

3 ASPECTS of the BELIEVER'S SACTIFICATION
(1 of 3)

Positional sanctification

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

(Separated from the practises that once characterized them)
(Apostle still had to correct many things, but God saw sanctity)

Hebrews 10:10
10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Hebrews 10:14
14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

(a finished work. Established position)
(We are His own)

DOCTRINE OF SANCTIFICATION

2) THE EXPERIENTIAL SIDE OF SANCTIFICATION

(let experience conform to position) (lateral move)

Romans 12
Living Sacrifices to God
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
(setting oneself apart to God)

Romans 6:13
13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

(the Christian life depends upon the believer setting themselves apart by an act of their will so that they are controlled by the Spirit of God,)

(not control of sin,law or flesh)

(begins with act of presenting oneself to God and His control by the Spirit of God)

(result is Holy Spirit's empowerment to freedom from sin)

Romans 6:14-16
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
From Slaves of Sin to Slaves of God

15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

1 John 2
1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

(the spirit will reproduce in usHis own fruit)

manifested in:

2 Peter 3:18
18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

(sometimes referred to as progressive sanctification)

2 Corinthians 3:18
18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

3) ULTIMATE SANCTIFICATION

1 John 3:2
2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that WHEN HE IS REVEALED, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Jude 1:25 To God our Savior,[a]
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,[c]
Both now and forever.
Amen.

Footnotes:
a-Jude 1:25 NU-Text reads To the only God our Savior.
b-Jude 1:25 NU-Text omits Who . . . is wise and adds Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
c-Jude 1:25 NU-Text adds Before all time.

*positional and ultimate*

DOCTRINE OF RESSURECTION

1 Corinthians 15

The Risen Christ, Faith’s Reality

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.
9 For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed. The Risen Christ, Our Hope

12 Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! 18 Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. The Last Enemy Destroyed

20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming. 24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.
