  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've just started reading "Intercessory Prayer" by Dutch Sheets.

It's the most page-turning and challenging Christian book I've read for a very long time.

I'm getting through it really fast because it's so interesting, but it's challenging too.
I know I'm going to have to go back and read it a second time, more slowly, taking time over the extra scripture quotes, and maybe even take notes.

It's unsettling too because:

A/ - it's revealing some things about intercessory prayer which I hadn't found elsewhere, and

B/ - I know I need to re-commit to serious prayer as I've been drifting too long.

God bless, Susana

Thanks for the recommendation. I was able to read the first few pages on amazon. I liked how he talked about perseverance in the first pages. Just the other night I was reading the parable of the sower and noticed that the one who produced good fruit was the one who persevered. (Luke 8:15. NIV) I know that Dutch Sheets is right on about perseverance. It gives me hope too because that seems like all I have on most days. :amen:

CHARLES CAPPS!
NOW THERES AN OLD WISE MAN OF GOD!
im reading his book called "your spiritual authority".

i have a bible college teacher named Mark, and from being around Mark and knowing the Lord a little bit, (though i dont know God anywhere near the way Mark knows God) ive learned that when Mark says something... its a good idea to listen becuase that man knows God...

Mark says the greatest books on prayer hes ever read were written by a man named E.W. KENYON.
E. W. KENYON was a man who lived a long time ago and some of his stuff is no longer in print, but Mark finds alot of stuff on amason.com.

but yeah, so
E.W.KENYON has good books on prayer.
and
"WHY REVIVAL TARRIES" by LEONARD RAVENHILL.
ive read that one, hes a firebrand who will mess you up, but some of the most powerful stuff on prayer that ive ever read came from that book.

oh, and Kenneth Hagin wrote some powerful books of prayer too. he wrote lots of books that you could read in like an hour or two, but it has awesome timesless truths of prayer that he learned in over 50 years of pastoral ministry. he just tells stories that shock you, humble you, amase you...
but its just good.
