  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This has been asked so many times that I have lost count now.

The one that I like to use for Study purposes, is a computer program by Pradis. THere are I think 4 different ones to choose from, depending on the level that you want. The one that I have is the Leaders eddition, and it has over 100+ books in it. 9 Bible versions a Hebrew and Greek version, 2 study Bibles, 4 commentaries, 2 cross reference, 2 devotionals, 2 dictionaries, 1 encyclopedia, 9 books for footnotes, greek and hebrew definitions, 10 reference books, 6 books of tables, 2 study guides, 26 tutorials, and one book of weights and mesures. and others

I hope this wil help you

A superb set of books, but not a study Bible. This is a set of writings about NT Greek and a Wuest NT translation.

My 3 favorites are:

Thompson chain reference Bible (Wow! SO much good information here!)
NIV Study Bible (easy to read and good commentary)
Parallel Bible (no study notes, but I love to have the KJV and NIV side by side for study.)

The best study Bible I have ever had was the "Logos International Study Bible" which I lost in a fire. I have searched and searched have have been unable to find another copy.
Published in 1972 by a NJ company.

"The Logos International Study Bible. American Standard Bible" (Logos International, [1972])
Dixon Pentecostal Research Center - Pent. BS188 .A2 1972

May I suggest a different approach? There are many good, or even great Study Bibles available. The problem is, how much will you allow the notes and references that the Study Bible you end up with affect your understanding of the Biblical text. I have known too many people who believe or teach something that is errant, because they had their understanding influenced by Study Bible notes. This happens often when you have a question about the text and look to the closest resource on hand, the Study Bible notes. What if they are wrong? First impressions can bias your understanding.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think that there is a terrible problem with false teaching in the notes of all Study Bibles, but most have been written from a decidedly biased point of view. As witnessed by some of the suggestions already made to you. The best solution that I can suggest is that you get a simple Bible, in the translation you prefer, or perhaps the same translation that your local Pastor preaches from. This way you will not have a different reading from what others in your church are using.

Then purchase a copy of The Bible Almanac edited by Packer, Tenney and White. This book is a tremendous resource for finding historical and cultural information which is often all you need to help your understanding of a problem passage. This way, you can do the study on your own, from information that has been highly researched and documented, and not have your understanding influenced by someone else's understanding of the text. It also reduces the weight of the Bible that you carry with you.
