  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Alright, I'm a senior in high school this year and I really don't know what I want to do, or what God wants me to do with my life. I do believe I want to go into Seminary and get a theological degree, but one of my passions is writing, but writing fantasy stories. So, I'm torn between getting a degree in programming and what-not so I can make my fantasies real for all to enjoy, getting an English degree so I can learn to write better, or going into Seminary and getting a theological degree. Does anyone have any ideas, because all opinions help. Thanks, and God bless.

You should pray about it. God will give you an answer. Last year I didn't know if I should go to college or take a year off. Then one night I asked God to give me some sort of sign as to what to do. So, the next morning my mom told me she really wanted me to go to college. So, I took that as my sign, and so far college has been very easy. So, just pray about it.

Well, some people have already took my answer... ;)

Pray, and give up your college/career choice to God. Just hand it over to him, and he will lead you to the correct one. How do you think I got into genetic engineering ;) I never really had a remote intrest in DNA till God lead me to genetic engineering.

Heh, thanks alot everyone. I do need to just let God take me where He decides, because thats truly what is best. And I feel so weird saying I want to be an author because I really don't read all that much, even when it comes to my favorite subject of fantasy. I do read various occult books, but that is mainly out of sheer interest and help to write my own works of fantasy. And I really only thought of writing as a hobby until my rpg site, Xeterous--in its 4th incarnation, was about to be shut down by the root admin. I learned that I really did love writing and I took pride in what I wrote. So, I think that writing would be really good for me, but then again, money would be an issue...but with God all things are possible. Bah, I hate thinking for long hours just to realize God has to answer the question. Anyway, thanks for the help. God bless.

I was in a similar predicatment... Pychology or Christian studies for me... so, I chose to double major. I graduated in May with a BS in Psychology and Christian Studies. :)

Major in one and minor in the other... or double major.

Most college students don't know what they want to be with the rest of their lives when they first enter college! My sister went through 3 yrs before deciding to be a lawyer and I got an associates degree in Computers before I realized that it was Nursing that I was being lead to do.

Double majors or a major and a minor are a good way to go when one has multiple interests. If you wish to attend a seminary in the US, most of them require that you have a Bachelor's degree first, so plan ahead for college and then see where things are 4 years from now.

Make sure you don't set your options so tightly, that you have no way of changing. Me? In the 2 months before i had to decide. My broke up with me, i decided to stuff my dreams i'd been planning for college, i changed track totally, then one month later, totally changed again. And what happened? i still haven't found my career, but found another path i want to follow.

Don't be too set on ONE plan, but don't be too scared of following a plan either.
