  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am having a tough time understanding if God has ever answered anyone’s prayer, why didn’t God answer any of the abused children in the Catholic Church. I have to believe these children prayed fervently for the abuse to stop and yet thousands of children were abused multiple times over decades in Gods house and if one prayer was answered it would have stopped or even never happened. So why would God answer someone’s prayer for a new job or treating them , but didn’t answer any of the abused children.

Help me understand.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31, 1984 NIV)

The amount of genuine devotion to Jesus by Christians is at an all time low, and it affects everyone on earth.

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14, 1984 NIV)

Everyone's devotion to Jesus matters, even children's (Ezekiel 14:14, 19-20). The state we find the world in is the result of so many people rejecting what God said was good for us for millenia.

Sounds like God hasn't answered a specific prayer for you. He always answers mine. Not always as I desire Him to and not always with a yes. We often ask things in prayer that go against God's plan.
I always keep one theme in my request of God
That His will (and not mine) be done. He knows all.thereby knows better than us.

Why stop with this, what about those crosby abused, the girls kidnapped by boko haram, child refugees around the world, girls being groomed around the world etc etc etc

A question for you.
Why do you think God should act to stop mans inhumanity to man?

What of your responcibility to help those in need?

I believe God has let a fallen world run basically on the laws of science. We need to pray to God to give us the know how to try to do what is right within this sorrowful world. Whatever good comes out of this we give thanks to God ( Philippians 4:8, James 1:17, John 16:33 ).

No one can say why God allows bad things to happen even though there are many prayers calling on Him to help. There is no question He hears those prayers; however, for reasons we cannot understand from our limited perspective, God allows some bad things to happen for a greater good beyond what we can see. Keep in mind, God is looking at all eternity - we are a tiny moment of all eternity. You must have had an experience in your own life where allowing something bad to happen in order to achieve a larger more important good outcome was the right thing to do. You may have also experienced a time when someone was seemingly going off in the wrong direction only to discover in the end they had things well in control. God is in control. One day, when we meet Him we will understand. For now, we need to continue to pray and trust He will always do what is best for all eternity.

perhaps because there are other spiritual sources whether it's the devil or other religious entities unknown and not recorded yet in label in any records that inflict such influence in us. of course i'm agnostic too so i'm not saying i believe in what i just said but just making guesses. who knows what the sources are right now but whoever favors it maybe for example from even people doing something to people to do bad things to get their personal order of balance bleeding perhaps for one or whatever are doing it and that is perhaps the best answer i can guess. so it can be people getting people's balance out of order or other sources not yet known to us.
