How long have you been walking with the Lord brother?

It takes time for us to mature, do not be overly anxious but be zealous for the Lord. Seek Him in prayers more (yes you can do it) and just let Him deal with the state of your heart. Don't let the devil discourage you from going to God, resist him and pray to the Lord to help you overcome in Jesus' Name.

Hold on and don't give up!

Once baptised the word is with you

He hates moaning, so if your not receiving then its his will, (psalm 39 could help guide you).

Jesus taught us how to pray, continue with his prayer.

Its all so easy for us now days, think a little of why, don`t be tricked.

Take care....

Many of us go through a transition, where we realize how much the approval of people was involved in our decision. When we are face to face with God, we still get restless about what people will think. I know you didn't mention that in the OP, but I suspect that could be part of it.

Try to dig for the mysteries of God, and a relationship with Him when you don't know what to expect. It is risky, and we tend to assume it will always be the same. But there are so many facets to God, and what He wants to do in our lives.

I notice i keep falling away from the Lord,

This is the struggle all Christians have. It is well described in the book of Galatians. The desire to follow self comes from our own bodies and it is called the "flesh". The desire to follow Jesus comes from God by the Holy Spirit. The world we live in is currently administered by Satan (insofar as he is allowed by God). Satan has designed the world to appeal to the flesh and draw us away from God.

You have avoided the first trap Satan uses on Christians. He tries to get Christians to think they are successful because of the rules they keep. This is what he did to the Pharisees. The next trap he uses is to get you discouraged by thinking you are not good enough. The trick here is that none of us are "good enough". It is not our "goodness" that accomplishes anything.

We are to walk in the "Spirit". This is simply walking in truth. If the thought, "You are not good enough" comes to mind, you can counter with the thought, "You are right, I am not good enough. However, Jesus has paid the price for all my sins. It is not about what I have not done, but rather what He has already done".

When we try to follow Jesus in the flesh we end up as weary and frustrated as Paul in Romans chapter seven. When we walk in truth, we find the path easier as shown in chapter eight. The key to the transition is found at the end of chapter seven. It is not "how" or "what", but "who".

"Success" in the Christian life is not acquired by accomplishment, but through surrender to, dependence upon, and trust in our Savior.

The rich young ruler could not follow Jesus because of his riches. Jesus explained that it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven. Most people in Western countries today live lives of greater plenty than most kings of history.

The Bible calls riches "deceitful". We often find a number of threads attaching us to and entangling us in connections with the world and the flesh. These are best removed through the use of truth. For example, we can ask ourselves if we feel comfortable about the future because of our 401K plan, the security of our employment, our education and training, or because that no matter what happens, Jesus will care for us?

As we apply truth to ourselves, we find the frustrating encumbrances of the flesh begin to have less effect. We are aided in the process by the promises of God. For example, God has promised to give wisdom to all who ask. We can read of many other promises God has given us such as in Proverbs chapter two. The Christian who takes seriously the promises of God and acts on them finds that they are not abstract or metaphorical but real tangible promises that can be received.

Dear Jonathan20. Jesus told a Lawyer in Matthew, chapter 22, verses 35-40, : " The first and great Commandment is: Love thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it: Love thy neighbour as thyself." Do this Jonathan, and God will bless you and draw near you. Jesus will give you His Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will give you His Love. By sharing these gifts with your neighbour: all you know and meet, friends and not friends, you will be showing your love for God, and God will see and approve. You will have God`s Blessings for yourself and all those you treat as God wants us to treat each other: kindness and friendly words, a helping hand ( when needed) and encouraging and understanding attitudes. You will find that you want to bring thanks and also ask for helpful advice, and no more struggling to remember God and His Love for us. I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Maybe it's time to stop playing games! If you're serious about being in a relationship with Jesus, keep at it and continually seek Him. Try to move away from distractions. Try to be around Christians more, but be careful who you learn from, there are many spiritually blind Christians out there.

Hi Jonathon,
If I can help I will but there are things I'd need to know first.

1. Are you regularly attending a church? What church?
2. Do you have friends there you can talk with and share struggles?
3. What does it mean to you to "come to God"?
4. What have you actively done so far to build a relationship with God?

Every day is a new day to choose Christ. He chose us first but we mess up. Make today a new day. You can do it, with His help.

I'd love to talk further if you want.

Paula

Thanks everyone for your replies it did help!

Paula to answer your questions

1. No i don't attend any church at the moment, There is this baptist church around where i live about 20 mins away, but I have this fear they might not accept me...Maybe is satan saying that to me.

2. I used to have a few christian friends, but not anymore

3. what it means "Coming to God" is when being honest and truthful with him, Talk to him as a loving father in heaven, which he is. Confessing your sins and asking for cleansing thru the blood of Jesus. Having a intimate and loving honest relationship with him.

4. What I'm doing now to start building a relationship with the Lord is I'm starting to read the word more now and just pray some more. The next step is getting rid of things or people that harms my walk with him.

Thanks so much for you honesty. You're right that reading God's word can help you get closer to Him, but a little heads up. As you may have noticed, it's a big book and all of it won't apply to this moment in your life.

A great place to start is reading one of the four gospels in the New Testament. (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) They are each first person stories about what it was like to walk and talk with Jesus. They are called the gospels because they tell the good news of who Jesus really is. You can pick whichever most appeals to you. I like John.

If the Baptist church is the one that catches your attention, don't let a little thing like fear hold you back. They are just people. Not one of them is perfect, only God is perfect. The people who know Him best also know that. At a church, people think of it as their home in some ways and they love having guests.

Getting to know God also involves getting to know His people. It's a really important and helpful step. Any new thing can be scary, but pushing through the fear helps you discover new things you may really love.

I'd love to hear if you check it out this Sunday. Also, what it's like to you. Have you been to a church before now?

Paula

I love your heart...

Don't over complicate things...

Reading the Bible is great but read what you need...
Find the areas you need help in and find the scriptures that adress your
needs, questions or concerns.

There is a great online program/website called biblegateway.com.
It will allow you to search words and or on topics.

Now....prayer...what is it?

It is a dialog you start with God...
We know that we can come directly to God through Christ so
we should start our prayers with Christ.
(if you need chapter and verse let me know)

So...God in Jesus Christ I come to you....
After that, pour out your heart...

Talk to God as you would a friend or as you would your father
or mother or anyone else you trust with your most intimate secrets.

You can pray in the morning from your bed as King David did.

You can pray in your heart as you are brushing your teeth.

God hears it all...

If you want you can pray all day long...

Saying thankyou to God for this day is a prayer.

Telling God you want to go forward and need His help is a prayer...

Communicating your deepest secrets and desires is prayer.

Opening your thoughts to God is prayer.

Being conscious of God and aware that He sees your heart and hears your
thoughts and then directing those thoughts to Him knowing He hears them
is the most intimate of all prayer.

Prayer is so much more than we have been taught.

Prayer is realizing that God sees every thought and intention and loves us
absolutely so that we do not have to hide anything and so we can invite
God in and commune with Him all day long...

Prayer is a dialog we begin with God and it can start as simply
as God I know you love me in Christ and in Christ I can love you back...

Christ is God in man, emanuel....God with us...
Christ is our freind so treat Him like one and talk to Him
and let Him in to the areas He already knows everything about
and your prayers will turn from a duty into a full blown relationship.

Jonathan, this sounds like a Romans 7 situation:
For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. -Rom 7:15

Paul is speaking theologically there, for all of us. We simply do not have it in us to walk with God. His ways are way higher than ours. That is why Jesus said, "Without Me, you can do nothing".

Romans 7 is worth a complete read, to get the context of Paul's utter inability to be godly. But in the end it leads to the answer, in Romans 8:

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. -Rom 8:1-4

Trust Christ, even when you're at your weakest and have failed once again. Believe that He truly has paid the full price of your redemption, and that He will never let you go, and He is going to see you through to perfection - in His strength, not yours (not by might, not by power, but by my spirit...). This takes all the pressure off you.

The wonderful irony is that if you continue to dwell in the updraft of God's grace, you eventually will see the chains fall off:

For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. -Rom 6:14

Thank you all for participated in this topic, I'm really blessed by all your answers. I've been to church many times, My aunt who passed away and went to GLORY was a christian and so was my cousin so the faith always been in my family. It wasn't until I have gotton older and started to realize what Jesus did for me. I'll try to check out this church and I'll let you know. I know I'm saved by grace, but i still wish to serve God and depend and trust in him. I hate falling, even tho I'm not perfect and i fall many times, but theres something in me I guess the holy spirit that doesn't want me to stay in that state. God has soo much more in store for me if i Just follow him and walk with him. He would give me the desires of my heart if I delight in his ways!
