• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Not sure if it helps or not, but I don't take any meds for it. Before the symptoms of BP ever manifested I was obsessed with working out. So now days whenever any anxiety or any of the symptoms appear I go work out. Not only does it keep me fit, but using weight training as a venting mechanism allows my head to clear and I can relax again.

bprecovery, I struggle with this same issue and am continuing my prayers and research into this. I know that I am feeding my neurochemicals and have rewired my brains dopamine centers to this current level. I lost all my weight a few years back and the return to work has returned it all and them some. I am at the point it is interfering with everything in my life even putting on my socks. . .hugs to both of us. I know this is not healthy to geed my emotions but have yet to figure out how to handle all this in a more healthy manner, how to rewire my brain back!!!

The meds are making me fat is the wrong approach. First of all, alot of people will go off of there medications and not see a therapist for the simple reason of gaining a few pounds. It's not worth it. Medications are a must if you want to live a normal life. The weight gain that may happen is a motivator for you to exercise more and watch your diet.

I went from a fit 160 to 180 after only a few months of taking my meds when I had my breakdown 2 years ago. I had to get bigger jeans and go up from a 32 to a 34. It's been a struggle to try to take it off plus all of the side-effects of the meds that make it worse. I've learned to eat better with more salads and veggies and less on the fast food and all of that other unhealthy junk. Currently down a little over 175 and hopefully breaking that 170 brick wall sooner rather than later Lord willing.
