Strong Tower
By Kathy Dillenbeck
When the battle's fiercely raging and the enemy is near,
A soldier needs a tower, a place that's free from fear,
A tower strong, a shelter sure, a place to rest his head,
Where he can lay aside all of his doubts and fears and dread.
Are you looking for a refuge when the hounds of life pursue,
When you have no place to run and hide, when all are failing you?
When your world is crumbling 'round you and the winds of trouble blow,
Are you looking for somewhere to hide, a safe place you can go?
Take heart, my friend, there is a place where you can rest,
A refuge sure, a tower strong, a safe and solid nest.
The righteous has the name of God in which to run and hide,
A tower strong where we can run, our precious Lord provides.
Just call upon the name of God when you are feeling down,
When cares of life or doubts about the future do surround.
You'll find that tower strong and sure, a safe place you can hide;
Just call His Name, and in His refuge, therein abide.
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous runs into it and is safe."
Proverbs 18:10
