Strong Tower
Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.
Psalm 46:1-5, 10 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.
Be still, and know that I am God ...
These passages are on my heart this week. As I hear more and more about the Tsunami that caused so much destruction. It's hard not to be afraid, not to ask why?
Psalm 46 is a great comfort. It tells us how God wants us to respond in the face of such destruction & disaster. It tells us not to be afraid, that there is a refuge, a strong tower in the midst of any situation.
It encourages us to 'Be still and know' ...
Be still and know that God is in control.
Be still and know that God is ever present, with us.
Be still and know that if we call on the name of the Lord, He will answer.
Be still and know that God is our Rock, a sure foundation.
___________
From Strong Tower
Newsboys
When the winds come hard against us
You are steadfast, You are true
When the ground beneath us trembles
Your foundation never moves
Chorus
Strong tower -- high and glorious
Strong tower -- mighty in love
Our refuge -- our defender
Strong tower -- Lord above
Strong to lead us -- through the shadows
Strong to carry -- all our sorrows
___________
Thank You Lord that You are our strong tower -- that Your foundations never move, that you are our ever present help and refuge. When we look at the world around us, help us not to be afraid, help us each run to You, our refuge, help each of us 'Be still' and know you are God. Let the peace of Jesus shine thru our hearts to others, as we are 'still' knowing You are God. Let this peace draw others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus. Amen
