There are so many flippin' kinds out there!
I feel like I'm shopping for a car when I look through all the types!

So what I want to know is: What is your favourite stroller? Why?
Which stroller was horrible and you regret ever buying/using?

Advice wuld be much appreciated!

I like the umbrella strollers, because I can actually pass them on a sidewalk.

Yeah, but how to they handle when you're actually pushing one??
Also - why are you in every single child associated forum!? :p I'd never expect to see you in the parenting forum, thats for true.

Well...
What is your budget?
What do you plan on doing with it? Small trips? Long trips? All-terrain? Hiking?
Do you plan on trying to attach the car seat to it?

I'd like to keep it under 200.00$ preferably.
It'd be mostly for town-strolling, but MUST be easy to manuver.

I'm not going for a travel system because I'm physically handicapped (have no fingers on my left hand and only one on my right) so carrying those car-seats is a pain in the bum. I need to hold the handle in the crook of my elbow, but the seat is so wide its very uncomfortable.

I'm planning on getting a 3-in-1 car seat system and a stand alone stroller.
It needs to have swivling wheels though..

I'm still browsing, but wanting ideas from other parents about what really worked or didn't work.
I know we all have our preferances, but even just company names would be at least a jumping off place for me.

My sister just spent big $$ on a Queen Bee bumbleride! She loves it, and I couldn't steer that sucker for the life of me! It was like an SUV for babies!! :D

Umbrella strollers are really unsupportive to a baby's body. It would be fine for a small, quick, barely used back up emergency stroller, but it has no support for a baby.

If you really need easy to push, I would recommend one that has 3 wheels instead of four, like a jogging stroller.

I have a Kolcraft Contours and it's three wheeled, despite the fact that the last thing I do is jog with it. :D I love it, but baby2 on the way so it won't work much longer for us. I paid about $120US for it.
As for your limitations, I know there are a couple strollers (though I don't remember what) that have two handles on either side, instead of the bar across. Would that be easier for you?

As for a car seat, what one do you have in mind? If you're thinking like an Alpha Omega seat, I REALLY don't recommend it. I'll have to do a little more research on seats though, because I know Canada doesn't get everything that we get. :)

Trolls in the parenting forums, eh? Hhhhhh...

Anyway, OP, I really, really like the Graco MetroLite. It's lightweight, but secure enough for my baby. I can have baby in one arm and unlock and unfold the stroller with the other - PERFECT! It has wheels that allow you to lock them in place so they can stay the course, straight ahead or swivel to turn on a dime. In the little aisles at stores, this becomes a great feature. Also, it's big enough to feel like your baby is secure without it being so bulky and cumbersome to deal with. Many, many store aisles are not stroller-friendly but I have no problems with mine. The recline isn't amazing though. It does go down far enough to allow my little guy to take a nap (because God knows, shopping trips are about as fun for babies as it is for me - plus, going for walks makes the little ones sleep anyway :)). Oh BUT, it does not recline all the way down to a horizontal position. If that is important to you, I would recommend the Chicco's. They're way more expensive though. Also, inclined, it does not allow for a full-on vertical position. It's still slightly-reclined at its highest position. I also payed attention to the seat and comfort. I like the fabric on this stroller as it seems cozier than a lot of the other ones. (I swear a lot of these companies just assume the natural padding on a baby does the trick) The tray is useful as it sort of works to keep baby back a bit and allow him to play with whatever is on it. It's easy to take the tray down though when you need to get your baby out. The HARNESS I LOVE and is great when you have a baby but the straps bother me, but they do on ALL strollers. Again, I swear these companies just do not think what it must feel like for a baby to deal with a strap up the crotch. I have to make regular adjustments to make sure it's comfortable no matter how my little guy is sitting. Mine was around $100 on sale and yes, I did double-check to make sure it was not recalled.

Ah - see, because I'm not using a travel system, I need my stroller to accomadate a newborn, so I need one that reclines all the way.
Thats where I've been having some issues.

Very few jogger style strollers will recline.
I did like the look of the Jogger City Mini, but again, not for newborns...hmmm

Niffer,

When I saw this thread I went oh no, not another stroller thread. I come from a board where strollers are taken a bit too seriously and there are knock-down, no holds barred fights between posters that lasts for pages! I wish that I were making this up. Please tell me when someone offers an opinon here it won't erupt into World War III ^_^

Also - why are you in every single child associated forum!? :p I'd never expect to see you in the parenting forum, thats for true.

I was thinking the same thing ^_^

I have never seen another stroller thread here, so I think we're okay. ;)
As for it erupting into WWIII - it doesn't seem like too many Mom's here are stroller militant. :D
I just wanted to know from mum/dad's what their fav. strollers were so I could check 'em out.

An argurment over a stroller that lasts for pages??? Really??? .... o_O wow.

:D
Peace,

I dunno, I'm sure mine's not meant to, but I put my little guy 5 days old in the stroller. it had a rounded headpiece for support and I tilted him back *some* and supported him with blankets around.

What she said. ^ As long as it reclines to perhaps a 45-degree angle (I can't remember from elementary school, sorry), it should be okay as long as you buy some of those cushion head and neck inserts. He or she will be fine that way, so his or her little head won't be knocking around.
