  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm using Palmer's Cocoa Butter (unscented) and it's really helping with the itchiness. My skin gets soooo dry every pregnancy... and this stuff is just about the only (less expensive) thing that works for me.

Taking Vit.E (by mouth~ the natural one, not the synthetic) also helps elasticity of the skin. Evening Primrose Oil (by mouth) is also very good at helping the skin be more elastic as well. Both of these are fine to take during pregnancy, and both have great properties that help during labor & birth.

HTH~

I've been using body butter from the body shop, and until just recently it was working like a treat. But my stretch marks are ALOT bigger and there are more of them than there was before...
I used to be able to put the cream on in the morning and not have to re-apply all day. Where as now i get itchy and have to do it multiple times a day!!!
Ugh... stupid itchiness!!!

I use Udderly Smooth (ahem...foot cream). It's really thick (because it's meant to help dry feet and other really dry skin), and seems to be working well, I'm not dry and not itchy. I like it because it doesn't have much of a smell (not big on scents). It's inexpensive too, so you can really slather it on. It's not greasy either.

Now I have stretch marks too...I was doing so good and I didn't think I would get stretch marks at all since I was at the end of the pregnancy but nope...week 37 they appeared :( now they have been itching me like crazy and I need to constantly put on stretch mark cream and even then it doesn't always help..I'll try Assisi's advice about the baby oil and see if that works.

I have some stretch marks on my belly... and they are driving me insane.
They are SO itchy and really, really sore.
Is there anything i can do to stop the itching???

I really wouldn't be at all concerned about having stretch marks if they weren't itchy and sore. After all it is what happens in pregnancy!!!

Well, do you use lotion? I lube myself everyday, usually right after my shower. But sometimes I have to reapply.

The lotion that I've found the best for itchiness and dryness is medicated Gold Bond... it doesn't smell that great but it works really well!

I've used baby oil and it just irritates my skin for some reason.

I didn't get any til I was about 34 weeks pregnant. I thought I was going to get away with not getting them... but no.
I still have them on my belly and Maddie is 22 weeks old. They are still bright red, but they are slowly fading.
No more bikini's for me!

I know the feeling! Knowing that I am prone to getting stretch marks from the moment I found out I was pregnant I loaded on the cream/oils! A few times a day. I thought I was going to have none and suddenly week 36 they appeared from nowhere. Big, ugly red ones. I looked the road map. My doctor actually gasped when he saw them .

Now almost 3 years later and they look much better - not red anymore...but I still look very stretched, so definitely no more bikinis for me :(

I liked Mustela, Double Action Stretch Mark cream. It's a little on the expensive side, but took away all the itch and probably helped keep me from getting any stretch marks with all three of my pregnancies. It also has a light, pretty scent which was good as I couldn't stand the smellier products when I was pregnant!

I've beginning to get little red lines at the very tops of my thighs!!! I was a wee bit upset about that but hey, I guess it comes with the territory. Anyway the night i discovered them I had a bit of a moan to my hubby cos I have to admit I am a little disappointed in discovering them so early. That night I had the most vivid and strangest dream where I looked down at my thighs and had actually grown 2 nipples on each leg which turned into proper small bbs!!! :o

Pregnancy dreams are weird!!
