  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My boyfriend doesn't really like them, but I have some. It helps when I get a tan so that they are less visible. What I DO wish I could get rid of is cellulite...mine isn't really bad, but I just don't like having dimples on the side of my leg lol. If you are looking to reduce the appearance of them, there are several products that will reduce stretch marks...try products with cocoa butter, that is supposed to be the best stuff I've heard.

Everyone has flaws and parts of their bodies they don't like. No body is perfect without any stretch marks or bruises or cellulite, unless a person goes and gets cosmetic surgery, etc. Otherwise, we've all got some stuff that society says is ugly. You have to realize that society's perception of beauty (especially in Hollywood) is twisted. It's crazy how women are pressured so much to have this perfect, flawless body! Nowdays women are so scantily clad that stretch marks and other flaws are more noticeable. Only our husbands are really supposed to know our bodies that well, IMO.

My doctor told me that if you use lotion with vitamin-E (I think), stretch marks will dissappear to a point... But either way, personally they don't bother me.
Cocoa Butter lotions are good. And also, if you buy vitamin E gel capsules and break them open and rub them in, they do wonders for reducing any kind of scarring, but you can OD on vitamin E, so take it easy.

I have some stretch marks...I have some on my thighs that aren't noticable at all anymore and I thought they'd completely disappeared until recently. And a few that have just appeared recently on my hips :\ Which I wouldn't say I'm really insecure about, but then again I did just finish lathering myself up with Cocoa Butter lotion after reading this thread, so I guess I still am a little unhappy about them.

But anyway, what I wanted to say is that everyone has flaws. I know you've heard it a million times, every girl has. But if you think about any guy you know...any guy you find attractive...the type of guy you'd be worried about what he thought about your stretch marks, your cellulite, whatever it is that makes you uncomfortable being you. Think about him for a second. If you were in HIS body, wouldn't you be uncomfortable? I know I would. Not just because it would be scary waking up big and hairy ;) But also because I would realize the flaws about him that I had never really payed attention to before. The flaws that if it were my own body, I would despise so much that I would spend way too much time obsessing over them. Big bushy eyebrows that before I thought were sexy... a chubby tummy that when it was another person's body, was cute and made this certain guy all the more huggable... crooked teeth, scars, messy hair, etc etc etc... I would be just as insecure about my flaws if I were in a rather attractive man's body, or a rather attractive woman's body, or ANYONE's body as I am in my own. Because it is not the body you're in, it's your mindset. Everyone has flaws. You just tend to notice your own way more than anyone else does.
Your flaws are often times what makes you who you are. If I look at my friends closely enough, with the critical eye that I view myself with, I'll see that the mole I thought made my friend cute is actually rather annoying...I'll see that the bushy eyebrows that gave a certain cute boy character and charm, are really actually not so attractive.

If you remember that, and try to apply it to how you view yourself, it will make accepting your flaws easier. It will never be easy. But, it will be easier if you remember that how you see yourself is not who you are. How GOD sees you, is who you are. And God sees that the things you see as flaws, are perfect. And more than likely, He has created someone who will see them the same way.

I dont have any... none that Ican see anyways. But they dont bother me. I know eventually I will have them when I have children. They will be a beautiful reminder of the 9 months of pregnancy.

But if you are trying to pervent them, I work at the body shop and they have a whole line of cocoa butter producte for stretch marks. It works really well. THe best is the stick, but either way its gonna work. :)

I got some when I started growing around 12 and 13. I was really really self concious about then and vowed to get cosmetic surgery to get rid of them. Now I am 18 and they are all totally faded and you can barely notice them unless you are looking for them. Don't focus on them so much because TONS of women have them and if a guy doesn't like them, well thats too bad because just about every other girl I meet has them! :)

By the way, the cocoa butter stuff does speed of the process of them fading, but they will never completely disappear.
