• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I remember some strange thing I've been doing since I was a very small kid (5 yrs old or so). in my mind I imagined some action movies or cartoons with lots of fighting, shooting, chasing and so on. sometimes there were some existing characters like batman, spiderman, ninja turtles, but many were invented by me. but the point is that I actually acted everything that was going on in my mind. To those who saw it (mostly my relatives) it looked really weird: a boy jumping around the room making strange moves with his hands (something like Ian Curtis' onstage dancing maybe) and making noises of shooting, explosions, kicking, punching, screaming etc. i only stopped doing this when i was 14 or 15. and i think do something similar when i compose songs in my mind and imagine myself onstage with a band, though I don't have one and obly use a PC to write songs.
When I've found out I was an aspie or someting very similar, I realised that this kind of strange behaviour has something to do with my disorder.
Did anyone have similar experience? and maybe somebody knows if such "games" were already studied by psychologists?

First post  I keep deciding what I want it to be, I guess here is a good start. Since it is kinda about my childhood.

Last year I started looking into aspergers when I heard there was a girl on ANTM with it. I started thinking to my self, I deal with that sometimes(not being able to open up, obsession with certian hobbies, I even read somewhere that cuffing your wrist could be a sign).

I guess when reading these posts, a lot relates to me, including this.

I think I know what you are talking about, I did the same thing as a kid only with Power Ranger figures. But instead of power rangers, they were on there own sitcom/drama show I made up. I was in it, some of the power rangers were characters from Digimon, some I made up. But that was really all I would do all day.

After that phase, came reality TV. I would cut pieces of paper into tiny squares and put Survivor characters names on them and act out reality shows with playing cards, I don't think I stopped till Senior year when I started playing games like this against real people online(I seem to go from one addiction to another) :|

I don't know if this is the type of behavior you are speaking of, I've never really connected the two. But in school these "games" did hinder a social life for me, and became quite obsessive :(

I've never talked with someone about aspergers or OCD though. I'm sorry I can't offer any insight. :(
