Strange e-mail.. Free AOL?

Okay, anyone out there who has AOL, maybe you guys can help me.

I've been recieving e-mails from AOL because I have AIM. Well I just got an e-mail today, you know how there is a 45 free trial and stuff? Well I got this e-mail that gave me what they called an offer code. It looked like this:

Yeah I crossed out the Offer Code. But that was what was at the top of my e-mail, and then it went into all the stuff about AOL Broadband.

So I tried using this code, but I can't find where. Is this some time of scam? Or is it real? I'm so confused. Can anyone tell me if this code is real? And if so, where does it go?

If in doubt, ignore it. There are plenty of AOL offers available on the coaster CDs you find in just about every supermarket. Use one of those if you want AOL.
