• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In terms of philosophy, can anyone give an example of a claim more implausible and absurd than the claim to possess the knowledge that God does not exist?

These 'challenges' are so pointless. You believe something on faith, so no one is going to present something which convinces you otherwise. You're beliefs aren't based on evidence so evidence can't persuade you. But for the record it isn't absurd to not believe in that which has no tangible evidence, like invisible pink unicorns.

Trampelling theists with her holy hooves right? Baaaaad karma maaaaaan.

According to this site, it's the horn you have to watch out for:

Invisible Pink Unicorn (3.5e Deity)

Overdeity
  • Divine Ranks: {{{DR}}}
  • Home Plane: Marinara
  • Alignment: Lawful Neutral
  • Portfolio: Bringer of Law
  • Clergy Alignments: Non-chaotic
  • Domains: Charm, Law, Animal, Knowledge
  • Favored Weapon: Spear or Javelin
  • Description: The Invisible Pink Unicorn is both invisible and pink. It is common knowledge that she is pink, however, since no one has seen her, is presumed to be invisible.
  • Dogma: The Invisible Pink Unicorn brought law and order to the Marinara plane with one stab of her horn.
  • Clergy and Temples: Her followers are know as Ipunians, and are few/far between lands. Churches are typically adorned in pink decorations, with some decorations claiming to be "invisible".

There is even an entry for a Christian God:

God, Christian Faith (3.5e Deity) - D&D Wiki

(note that these pages only refer to characters for the D&D game, and may have little or no resemblance to any real deities)

That's an easy one: If someone claimed to possess the knowledge that water does not exist I would be speechless or at least a little dumbfounded and suspect that they belong in a mental institute.
