  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Share something about your significant other. It can be anything! Something sweet, unique, funny, odd, sad... anything! Facts, a story, etc.

Last night, I was telling Jeremy the story of how my dad used to sing the song "House at Pooh Corner" by Kenny Loggins to me every night as a lullabye (if you don't know the song, you don't know what you're missing! It's the sweetest song in the world!). There's a part in the song that goes as follows:

Winnie the Pooh doesn't know what to do,
Got a honey jar stuck on his nose.
He came to me asking help and advice

And from here no one knows where he goes
So I sent him to ask of the Owl if he's there,
How to loosen a jar from the nose of a bear

Every time my dad sang the word "nose", he'd poke my nose.

Later on in the evening, as Jeremy was tucking me into bed before he left, he poked my nose and called me "Pooh Bear". I about cried!

He's worse than me when it comes to procrastinating with home work.

I give him a star for calling me back a few minutes after I started crying and told him I had to go and hung up. He stayed on the phone a long time until we had resolved the issue and he made sure that I was done talking.

We were once talking about the future - in specific how hard a time he will have when I'll be pregnant (as it is I get teary often and over nothing:D I bet this will be multiplied under the influence of hormones) and then I said: "Hmm and I will look like an elephant" and he responded immediately, sincerely in such a cute tone "The world's most beautiful elephant!" I could not help but laugh my head out!^_^ :D :p

Yesterday, my girlfriend went to my apartment while I was at work and arranged my furniture for me (I just moved in this weekend and hadn't arranged it all yet). Then she left 36 heart-shaped notes all over the place each one telling me how she loves me.

I was almost in tears. :D

Steven and I have been together for 4 years, and there are so many sweet things that he has done for me, I don't know where to start. Up there on the list was during our first date at his fraternity formal, he decided to do karaoke. He picked "My Girl" by The Temptations, and sang directly to me. Near the end of the song, a friend walked me out to him, and he got down on one knee and held my hand for the finale. It was so sweet, romantic, and spontaeous! I still tear up when I think about it.:sorry:

I love roses. For our first year dating anniversary (which is also my birthday) he surprised me by having a dozen long stemmed red roses delivered to my house!!!!!!! Talk about fulfilling a lifelong fantasy...

I also need to add that we were LDR at the time, and he, um, called in sick to fly out to spend a few days with me. I was so mad at him for that, but if he hadn't done it, he never would have gotten off to visit me.

lol My boyfriend and I were in the car earlier and I was in a silly mood. He dropped my purfume (a new almost-full bottle!) on the floor and smashed it. I was pretending to be mad at him and said "That's it, I think we should break up!"

He turned and looked at me with this adorable shocked, sad face and said softly, "But I want to marry you!"

Awwwwwwww.....

But the sweetest thing that he has ever done for me (and is still doing, btw) is when he moved halfway across the country from his family, his friends, his job, his church, just to be nearer to me. (I had just taken a great job, and much as I wanted to, I couldn't move.) He says he had to, but he really didn't. He could have chosen comfort and familiarity over me, but he chose me. I'm not sure what I did to deserve him, but I'll be darned if I'll ever let him go!

Oh my goodness, I have too many. One of the sweetest things he did was on Good Friday. I had never been able to go to a Good Friday or Easter service before because of my ex hubby. He knew how much I was looking forward to this year's Good Friday and Easter service. He also knew what a horrible week I had at work. I got home from work and there was a beautiful corsage sitting outside my apt with 4 red roses. He told me he wanted to because he knew how much I was looking forward to it and he knew how I would look even more beautiful with the flowers at the services. Made me melt and fall in love all over again! God bless!

Edit: AND! During the Good Friday service my youngest one started acting up and was tired of sitting. He came over and took him to the nursery and told me to stay and enjoy the service. What a sweetheart!

Last weekend my bf came down to visit me for the entire weekend. On Saturday, he bought tickets to go see Les Mis in Cincinnati. I never really cared for the Les Mis soundtrack, but now that i've seen the play, i love it. I'm so glad he took me to see it. Oh, he did it all for my birth day (He was about 27 days late, but i think i'll forgive that)

Mmmm I love these stories!

My b/f knows I love to dance, but we don't do it that often because there isn't anywhere really to do that on campus. So a couple days ago, it was nice out at night, and we were sitting outside and talking about how much we loved each other. And so we stood up to hug, and all of the sudden he started dancing. No music, no nothing. Just us dancing under the moonlight. *sigh* I about melted!

One time when I was having a bad day, I recieved a voice message from my girlfriend. For the longest time she simply never left me a voice message because she always knew I'd call her back as soon as I got the chance. But when she left me her first voice message, it made me so happy to hear it:

"Hi [insert my name here], I love you!!! Call me."

Only seven words, yes with her voice, and the love that she put into those words had such power behind it, that I saved that voice message right then and there.

It's been one year since then, and I still have her voice message to listen to whenever I'm feeling down. :)

Ceris! I know what you mean! I still have tons of voicemails that my bf has left. One is just him telling me how sweet he is. A couple are in this goofy accent he does, and about 3 of them are songs that he's inserted my name into, such as:

I'm a fiddle player so "If you're gonna play in (my town) you gotta have a fiddle in the band. That (my name) is hot when she's got it in her hand." (by Alabama)

Then to the song Watermelon Crawl by Tracy Bird, he says it's the (my name) crawl. LOL

A couple other songs are just to him singing to me. I need to get the guts up to sing on his now. I love listening to them when I've had a rough day. I also have some voice memos from my boys and my bf daughter. I'm a sap. lol God bless!!!

Awww!!!! These are all so sweet!

Jeremy was in a work-related accident which tore his neck up badly a couple days ago. This morning, he was fired from work because of the accident (it was his fault and it's the third one he's been in a year, so they had to let him go). Please keep him in your prayers. :sigh:

Dear Heavenly Father, please help Jeremy heal. Make his body whole again as you are the Great Physician! Lead him to another job and help him seek you for guidance and realize that this is just another door closing, but you never close one without opening another. Help his wonderful g/f be supportive of him and let this difficult time draw them closer to you and eachother. Thank you so much dear Lord from protecting him from worse. Whatever your will let it be done. In Jesus' precious name, AMEN!

God bless you guys!
