Storms in Vermont

Yesterday morning at about 3 AM, we were awakened by our cat.. He hates storms

Just about then we heard the first tree come down.. and the power was out.. I got up to call & report the outage..

The wind was howling fiercely.. I found out later it was sustained winds up to 70 MPH.. the wind was just whipping through the hollow..

Yesterday morning, we had 4 trees down.. no electric.. no phone.. no water (we have a well - needs electricity for the pump).. the creek had risen.. and out 1/4 mile driveway was covered with water.. and the cell phone had no *bars* so we couldn't call out..

One of the trees had fallen over the driveway, so we had to cut off the top branches to get the car out.. with a hacksaw.. the bow saw had "disappeared"..

It has been an interesting time.. I finally got to work today.. but the power company has no idea when they are going to be able to get to our house.. we were "not on the list" yet when I called them today..

The phone company is supposed to be there today - between 8 AM & 6 PM..

So I have no computer at home.. no tv.. no phone.. no water.. but the stream.. But the temperature has stayed pretty constant at 50 - 55 degrees so that we are comfortable with a few added layers of clothes..

It has been an interesting time in another way.. I have had more time to pray.. more time to read & finish some of the books God has me reading.. and my DH & I have talked more.. *smile* And we're getting extra sleep..

So I won't be online as much as usual.. especially in the evening until we get the power back.. It may help with my diet though.. We went to bed at 6:30 last night when it got dark.. and got up at 6 this morning.. 12 hours without eating..

I have pictures I will post when we get our power back at home..

Wow GJ, sounds like you've really been through the storm! Praise God He still gets the glory, and you're utilizing this time for good.

I looove Vermont, look forward to the pics. We've got a great team that'll keep an eye on your pets if you find you need any help at all. Enjoy the time with your DH, your cat, the quiet, and most of all the LORD.

As long as I can get in to work, I will be able to take care of my pets.. and I so appreciate the team's help with keeping an eye out for my pets..

May be days before my power comes back on.. Vermont was pretty hard hit by the storm..

Praise God He brings us through the storms. I am so proud you have all the power and phones back, Sounds like you could have had things lots worse with winds like that. A good attitued is a wonderful thing to have. Knowing our God it is not hard to have a good attitude is it.
