• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I can blame a lot of stupid things I have done on alcohol, mostly ranging from doing fight clubs (drunk groups of men agreeign to pummel each other for fun in this case), to actually going out and visiting brothels (this is something very simple to do when overseas, and a common thing to do for young men). I destroyed my last relationship through alcohol.

I also have gotten so drunk that to name the places I have vomitted and/or urinated would require a thread unto itself.

I am now getting set on giving up alcohol because I think it is leading me only to sin (which is very obvious based on the above).

I dread thinking of all the foolish things I did when I drank...I guess mostly..I made a fool of myself and hurt those I loved the most... I thank God that those terrible stupor days are over...It's been 6 yrs and 4 months...sober,never to go down that dangerous road again... Kathy

I both laughed and had tears reading because I can nod and sure feel where ya'll are coming from. I feel not so ridiculous but then I have been so many times I realize the memories I've left with friends and family are not happy ones.
I got so very drunk on vodka one school night I went into the master bathroom in my parents room and laid down with bath towels over me in the tub and closed the door. I woke up to the sound of alot of commotion. My Dad had called the police dept, and paramedics showed up. I am embarrased still.

Let's see. Lost a good job, almost lost a marriage, set fire to a chair; and others too numerous to mention, even if I hadn't been blacked out at the time.

A lot of names here I don't recall seeing on Alabuse before; but I'm just an old drunk and was probably blacked out. Stick around, we get a lot of newcomers here.

Wow! The paramedics there to take over th ehungover. :)

I had a similar experience 3-4 years ago I was at a buddy's house, sleeping it off, and someone had put a pot on my chest for me to theoretically puke in. However, I was so calm that my chest was not rising or falling at all while I was breathing. IT was winter so I looked pale.

People started slapping me and yelling my name, thinking I had died. In response, after waking up, I rushed to the bathroom and spent the better half of the morning alternating between sleeping and vomiting.

Wow you went back pretty far for this thread, and a good one too.

Gosh I have so many........:blush1:

Thinking that no one else knew of my problems, I tryed to hide them. On my last day using in a black out I called 911.
2 cop cars, a firetruck and an ambulance showed up at my house.. ( I have no idea what I said in the blackout to get that reaction..) :waaah:

I do know it was God though, because the dr. said I would have been dead with out being brought in a very short time.

Well now everyone in my neighborhood knew... ( like they didn't already):ahem:

They have all been a blessing in my recovery.

I am sure I have done plenty of stupid things...thankfully I don't remember any of them. The only thing I can say I am proud of about doing when I was drunk is that I never drove. I don't know why, maybe those MADD commercials and billboards in the 80's made a difference to me, but I was very adamant about not drinking and driving. Unfortunately, I have friends who are no longer here because they did drink and drive. I thought it was okay to drink as much as I wanted because I wasn't driving...I am glad eventually I realized how stupid that was, too.

I ate dog food. To prove a point to my party guests. I also strapped myself into a highchair of my friend's kid and ran down the block with it hooked to me and yes police were called. Why I get stupid is the reason why I want to stop drinking,I can't handle what alcohol does to my mind.

The one night, I started the night off by drinking six very large beers (32 oz? I dunno, they were not normal size) in about an hour or two. Then we went to the bar. I'm a girl. I was 20 at the time...I shouldn't have been able to go any further than that, but you can probably see where my tolerance was at the time. We continued to drink. I had 40 bucks in my pocket. In the morning, I didn't. The last thing I remember, it's 9 pm, some guy has handed me his credit card and I'm buying drinks.

I wake up the next morning at the sound of my roommate going to the bathroom. I wake up with horror...I have no clue what happened last night (no surprise there). I want to knock myself out and pretend it never happened. I look over across my room to see my roommate picking up my closet door and leaning it against the wall (this is where I really start freaking out, but I hold it all in and pretend to still be asleep until she leaves and goes to class). I'm freaking out, hurting with the worst hangover I've ever had and texting a friend to figure out what the hell happened. He's [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth]ed because it's 7 am and he was the one to drag me home, which I didn't know at the time (i'm no stick and he's not that strong). I get up and realize...I have no pants on. This scares me because I always sleep with sweat pants on. That's when I see my vomit on the floor, my jeans, my sweatpants...and...in my shoes. Apparently, my friend also told me to stop throwing up in my room and go to the bathroom. It was probably 1 am at this time...and my roommate had class the next morning.

What takes the cake in all of this though...is that when my roommate came back and asked me what the heck was up with me and what happened and stuff...I told her I ate some bad pizza. I later fessed up in a sticky note on her desk by saying I was going to stop drinking and get counseling and stuff...Two weeks later, I was drinking clear gin out of a water bottle with her in the room. That's when I realized I needed help.

A story that ended well earlier that year involved pot and alcohol. We still laugh and shake our heads over that situation, glad we were never caught even though our RD was standing in the midst of us with his jaw slack staring back and forth at all three of us while our other friend laughed in the corner of the room and later closed the kitchen door. Another friend told us later he was looking through the silverwear drop at what was going on. We were making pancakes and we were rolling and lying and falling all over the floor laughing. We were filthy and dying of laughter and then we made pot pancakes in the college kitchen (it was a small satellite campus and had a kitchen for the 80 of us, but still). Afterwards, I went out front with the two of them and sold some old homeless looking dude on a bike a gram of pot for $2. (a gram usually sells for $10...which is what I bought it for and then I sold it for..uh...charity I guess?) What a mess...we were so stupid. That year was one of the dumbest years of my life (both incidents happened that year).

The most stupid thing was probably to be caught for drunk driving because I wanted to buy a hot-dog in the middle of the night. I was driving gently at slow speed at a empty highway and had a low intoxication when the police caught me. And they didn't ever know that earlier the same night I had gotten my schizo friend from his psychiatric hospital and driving around at 110+ miles an hour completely wasted, asking him if he wanted to die.
