• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

the list is rather undistinguished and very very long.

mostly, drunk in public, drunk and disorderly, bar fights, jail (civilian AND military....), conduct unbecoming, insubordination, DUI (very very stupid), drinking while driving a motor cycle (really very stupid), my first born the end result of a drunken party, crashed/wrecked cars, missing cars, money gone, money stolen, money spent/wasted, infidelity, marriage over, remarriage due to drink, another marriage over, family gone and kids somewhat estranged, rehab thru military, loss of career/retirement (within 2 yrs and I lost it all due to drink - how stupid!), and the list goes on and on and on and......

I think I am done.

one of the most stupidest things was to go to reno with my alcoholic girlfriend at the time and get to so blind drunk (both her and I were blackout drunks) while betting and playing the slots/cards that we woke up the next morning in a motel room in Reno, NV in Sep '86 with a receipt for 150 bucks and a marriage certificate.....

this is the truth and I dont remember any of it happening. but that receipt was sure real!

Stupid or Scarey or Both???

It's not as much as the stupid things I've done (although oh    :sigh: ) as the things I do not remember at all....no recollection, hours, days, gone forever no memory of what occured!!!! Freaks me out to this day.
But this thread is to tell a story of something stupid you did. :)

Along with everything already posted by others, the stupidest thing I did was to pick up a drink knowing full well that it would result in me blacking out, passing out, jailtime, license suspension (5X), being broke, taking little pills of who knows what, and the absolute biggest, sharing dirty needles.

Today that's ok in spite of the long-term ramifications because as it says in the AA BB, "No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others."

Okay...there I was driving with my Lil Sis...****ed to the gills...in my Moms car, flashing red and blue lights behind me...I pull over...all I am thinking is "how am I going to stand up in these three inch heels. The officer met me at my car door...I had managed to get out of the car without falling over. He said " I pulled you over because one of your tail lights is out" Putting my best blonde voice and look I could, I replied " Oh really officer, I had no idea" He said I should get it fixed and walked back to his car. I waited till he drove away...drove about 1/2 a block...stopped opened my door and puked my guts out right there on the street. Then happily drove out to hit another bar.

All the times I was driving way above legal drinking level, taking up to 40 minutes to find the car I had driven to the bar with and never getting a DUI, killing someone or myself, to this day is beyond me. As what you have all stated, you've all been 'caught'.

You know why you were never caught Wendy because like me you had an angel on you shoulder and the good Lords hand on your back.
I know I should have been dead ten times over for the stunts I have pulled driving drunk doing drugs and that was the least of it ....now the answer is what do we do with the gift God gave us and the pain He spared us we tell the story of how God saved us and of His wonderful salvation so we can stop others from following in our footsteps of the past and emulate the present ones we walk in...the footsteps of Jesus.

Well... I did drink... at a very very young age... I was probably 10 when that started... I think all in all the stupidest thing was getting drunk. I hated it... I also hated getting high too...

But one time I remember was a late night party with a bunch of my "friends" I knew what was always there so I decided to join in. At around 3 in the morning I said I was going home and everyone followed me out side and I just layed down in the middle of the road and fell asleep. That was an intresting night... and the next morning felt like I had died and went to hell... lol

Cool. It helped me what you said. Sometimes I feel like a big loser but I'm really not.

I drove so many times drunk and didn't caught many many times. I remember driving with one eye open one time trying to see the road. I was squinting. I was trying to control the wheel so I wouldn't get in an accident. I didn't that time.

I am happy that I had 18.5 years of sobriety the last time I quit drinking. I drank for 11 months this time and thank God I realized that it's time to quit. Being hospitalized made me realize it. My first and hopefully only hospitalization for that reason.

Sooo many stupid things. I the type that gets mean, and I've ruined a lot of friendships. The worst thing is that I don't even remember what I did most times.
I can relate to the blackouts. I wasn't mean when I drank. I was a lover instead! lol. I loved everybody then.

Someone drove me home after a graduation party during my senior year of high school because she was embarassed for me and my level of intoxication. Unfortunately she dropped me off in front of the wrong house, and all of the houses on my street look the same. I was so drunk I didn't even notice, and coincidentally, the door to the house which I entered was magically unlocked. I walked right up the stairs and to the first bedroom on the right (exactly where my bedroom was located in my house), and went and passed out on the empty bed.

I woke up the next day and had no idea where I was. I had to sneak out of my neighbor's house and walk home with no shoes.
