CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

NO, it isn't, and shouldn't. I'm not pointing any fingers here, but the debate is probably not what they are refering to. It is the petty insults and such that constitute fighting.

As to the icon change...originally I got tired of having to explain I wasn't a Wiccan and such when I said I was "pagan"... "dark heathen and Left Hand Path ceremonial magician" is such a mouthful and requires so much context for any real understanding. SO, for a good long while I was just saying "Satanist" to non-initiates.
Now, the opposite is becoming true...people keep thinking I am a Laveyan, or one of Diane Vera'a theistic Satanists, or a Setian, when none of those are true. So I am simply listing myself as "pagan" and then if people ask me I can tell them the details.
Besides, more and more I am thinking that Hermetic magick, at least as presented in the modern era, is full of fundamental errors of metaphysics inherited from neo-Platonism. I am currently attempting a revamp of Hermetic thought that dispenses with this incorrect framework, which will fully oust the Jewish/Christian dualisms and proceed instead from a healthy heathen metaphysic.
