  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Certain people hate Donald Trump but they should remember something. Trump gave us $1,200 stimulus payments, plus $500 per child. That money has helped a lot of good people during this horrible and terrifying pandemic. It sure helped me and I'm grateful for it.

I realize that Donald Trump isn't the greatest President we've ever had. He has flaws but so do all people. Trump has some flaws but I do believe that he cares about America.

No, he didn’t.

The stimulus checks were from the US treasury issued after action from congress.

That money did not come from Donald Trump. It came from us and by an act of Congress and really, it was a pittance compared to what other governments were able to do for their citizens. I’m not one to ask for a handout but it really is a disgrace and an insult what this supposed ‘richest country’ on earth thought would be necessary for people to live off for several months during this crisis.

I realize that Donald Trump isn't the greatest President we've ever had. He has flaws but so do all people. Trump has some flaws but I do believe that he cares about America.
I don’t. If it were all up to him none of the measures we’ve taken would have ever happened. His approach has been to pretend the virus isn’t a problem.

Others already pointed out Trump didn’t give anything, it was US congress who approved a bill to pay her citizen money from US treasury.

But for a second I take your idea that Trump gave the money and it helped. Are you saying because Trump gave us money we should support him? Too me it sound like bribery (quid pro quo)!

[STAFF EDITED DELETED QUOTE]
Or pointing out that Congress passed the CARES act almost unanimously, and that even if Trump had vetoed it Congress easily had the votes for an override. Yes he did sign it, but it would have gone into effect regardless of anything he did or didn't do.

If Trump cared for us. He wouldn't have allowed COVID-19 to get out of control. By the was Trump wasn't the one that gave you money.

When Trump doesn't move mountains in the direction that his sworn enemies would do if they were in power, he's considered ineffective or uncaring by them. But when he does something that's undeniably good for America, the same people will move mountains verbally in order to argue that he had nothing to do with it!!! ^_^

Surely you can build a better strawman than that.

That's right, but it's not just a character flaw. The loudest voices have been doing it since the day of the 2016 election, so we are here discussing only the continuation of that commitment to be negative.

We notice, for example, that the administration's support for an extension of the stimulus benefits we are talking about has been blocked in Congress by the Pelosi and Schumer people, but where's the outrage about that?

The president signed a bill that would be ruinous to veto that also passed with greater than a veto prof majority, am I to reevaluate all my political views based on that?

Would it be too much to ask that he not be denigrated for making possible exactly what you favored?

I don’t fault him for signing it but it has zero impact on my view of this administration.

Okay. That wasn't exactly what I was asking, but no matter. What you say here, however, does remind me of how liberals lauded Obama for everything under the sun, even for the most routine actions and also for things he had not done.

The point is that maybe it should not be surprising when the exact opposite is done to the current president. Obama won, so he's the greatest thing since sliced bread; Trump won but we didn't like him so he's the Devil himself, no matter what he accomplises.
