Still Doubting......

Essentially I have a major problem and untill this gets handled I will not be satisfied. Thank You to those that have been with me every step of the way on my journey for the past 4 or 5 months. Hupomone10, razeontherock, Jeshu, Oscarr. I will give you other the backstory. I wanted to be saved but was looking for a sign to show me that I am saved. One day I just believed despite intellectual doubts of his existence and went with the notion I was saved. I have barely changed, since the time of my supposed salvation, a month and a half ago. I am back to where I was at the beginning and doubt by salvation. I have gotten on my knees and confessed that I am in need of a savior and etc. Nothing I do seems to work. All I have to do is have faith in him alone but for some reason I don't think I have the right mindset or necessary amount of faith. My question to you peoples is. What PRACTICALLY right now so I can be saved? If I was not already.

What God is looking for, is not a cat, that never falls into the mud, but for a cat, that falls into the mud, but tries to get out of the mud, and to clean itself. If you drop a cat, 100 times into the mud, the cat will always try to go out, and clean itself. You see, that is the nature of the cat.

But, the pig on the other hand, is always enjoying being in the mud, and does not want to get out of the mud. That is because it is its nature.

If you are a born again christian, because of your new nature, your born again spirit, you will try to get out of sin, by the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in you, because that is your new self, the born again spirit. The born again spirit, is perfect, without sin, does not sin, and tries to fight all the time, against the sinful nature, which is in the body of man.

What God is looking for, is not if we sin, or how many times we sin, he wants to see, if we struggle against sin, and try to get rid of it.
A person who is not born again, not only does not struggle against sin, but very often enjoyes sin, and does not care about sin, because, that is his nature, his dead not born again spirit, which follows only the desires of the sinful nature, because there is not the Holy Spirit in him, to cause him to struggle against sin.

I believe that is why Jesus said to Peter, that if a brother sins against you many times, you have to forgive him, if he comes to you and says 'I am sorry'. The fact that he says 'I am sorry', shows that he is trying not to sin against you, and his born again spirit, is trying to shake of, the sinful nature living in his body. He is trying to get off sin, that is why he comes and says 'I am sorry'.

A born again person, is like a man, who is surfing in the sea, whom the waves try to push down, but the wind helps him to stay on course and surf, in order to reach the destination or goal.

You only need a tiny amount of faith and from that your faith can grow and grow and become so very great!

Satan has a very special interest in you and will try to make you doubt, don't entertain such thoughts. He knows your close to getting saved, he will try his hardest to put you off!

Ask God to help you, ask him to give you more faith.

I urge you to read the gospel of John, it is of great benefit. But the bible isn't like any ordinary book. Pray to God before reading it and ask him to help you understand what you read.

You have been saved - Jesus saved humanity almost 2000 years ago - it are the wicked in charge of your life - they have been imprisoning, oppressing and killing the The Voice of Truth and Love right out of your heart - keeping you away from your salvation. Using doubt and unbelief to do so and telling you to do this or that. Heeding them leaves no room for your faith to grow - and that is what they are trying to achieve.


Just because you don't feel your salvation doesn't mean you are not saved my friend - but it does mean The wicked are holding you down on the ground and a appeal to Jesus would be most timely.

Why walk with the enemies of your faith?

Yet at least you can see them all now - your heart is riddled with those forcing keeping you away from your salvation.

Yes he does. The problem with those professing but not saved is their pattern of sin. It hasn't changed. Has your relationship to sin changed since you say you came to Christ? You may be saved but you're just not adding godly virtues to your faith to get assurance of your salvation. If you read 2 Peter 1:3-11, he talks about how we can get assurance of our salvation. Do you have holy affections? (Do you want to do the right thing, and not do the wrong thing?)

I have the desire to stop sinning but life circumstances give me that "why bother attitude, nothing in my life is good." So I go back to sin.

ponder on that king in your heart dear friend - shouldn't you at least seek Jesus sinning instead of denying Him even more by sinning and doubting He would save you from this?

When you sin, you grieve the Holy Spirit. It's the Spirit that gives us assurance that we are saved. By grieving Him, He's not giving you assurance that you're saved. That's why you're doubting. Alot of Christians believe that doubting salvation is always the devil's work, and although he does do that, other causes are sin, not reading the Word and neglecting prayer, etc.

Isn't God coming down to earth in the form of a man, performing miracles before many witnesses, fulfilling centuries-old prophecy, dying for our sins, and rising from the dead three days later sign enough? If you aren't persuaded by these "signs," what makes you think a further one will be more persuasive?

How far can you go with God when you doubt He even exists? Not far, I think. "He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him."

What kind of change were you expecting? I mean, if you doubted God existed, what kind of expectation could you have that He would change you?

Do you truly believe you are in need of a Saviour? Or are you of half a mind to consider the gospel just a lot of nonsense? If so, you should expect the results of your confession to reflect this half-heartedness.

Its not the amount of faith that is the issue, but the quality of it and in what it is placed.

I think you need to sort out why you ought to believe. I think you also need to press God to open your eyes and heart to His truth. He saves you; you don't save yourself. Only He can break down the barriers within you that resist Him.

I still have doubts that a man created earth just by talking and creating us so that we can only go to Hell or be with him. I stuggle to believe what cannot be seen. It is questions like these that make me doubt salvation.

No, you ought to believe it because it is true. You ought also to believe so you can go to heaven and live there in the company of God Himself.

Your thinking is like a man who gets married in order to avoid being alone. Really, he should be marrying a woman because he loves her, not because he fears being alone. Likewise, you should believe, not because you want to avoid hell, but because you love God. But loving God is a bit of a problem when you aren't even sure He exists, isn't it?

I think you understand that this is what the Bible says, but I don't think you have accepted it as true of you personally.

I still have doubts that a man created earth just by talking and creating us so that we can only go to Hell or be with him.

A man didn't create the earth - God did. You only have difficulty believing God could create the universe because of your poor understanding of who God is. God by necessity must be able to create all that is or He couldn't be called God. "With God all things are possible," the Bible says, and this must be true of the greatest Being of which we can conceive in order for Him to be such a Being. When you say, "God couldn't have created the earth," you aren't talking about God anymore, but some lesser being.

I stuggle to believe what cannot be seen.

Oh? Do you believe in integrity? Can you see it, or hold it in your hands? How about loyalty? Can you see loyalty? Can you put it in a bottle and sell it? Or how about love, or gravity, or the wind? You can see the effects of these things but you can't see them themselves. Nonetheless, I very much doubt you would claim that these things therefore do not exist. So, what's the problem with God, then? Not being able to see Him is no more a reason to deny Him than it is to deny the existence of the things I mentioned above.

It is questions like these that make me doubt salvation.

Well, these aren't, as questions go, very difficult ones to answer.
