• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

HI everyone. I've been gone a while from this forum - been pretty upset with myself. I am still not ready to completely quit - I try and I try, but then things get too hard and I fall. Fell again last night. I had no one to talk to after a really stressful day and I turned to my "old friend". Please pray for me. I really need some encouragement and support.
Thanks.

Texanurse:

All I can say, from experience with my issues, is not to give up. Relapse is part of the entire package of recovering, although it is so frustrating for those of us who want complete recovery. There really isn't any quick fixes. If you have more days without the SI you are making progress. If those without SI days are increasing you are moving forward although it may feel to slow for you.

Keep fighting. Sometimes we feel so bad about relapse that it makes things worse. The point I'm trying to make is that you need to tell yourself that relapse is to be expected and that tomorrow is another day. Keep on putting one foot in front of the other.

It's hard work. I know from my own struggles just how hard it can be. Cling to the Lord. Fill your days listening to praise and worship music. The best recovery days I have is when I start actively seeking the Lord and work to stay in his presence. Best therapy for me is earphones filled with praise and worship to our Lord.

I will say a heart-felt prayer for you. I keep a prayer list, so I will put you on it so you know someone is praying for you everyday.

Hang in there "Earth Angel"

Hey...I know the feeling. I had made a record, 77 days, that was on my birthday. But then I felt so bad on my birthday that I decided to throw those 77 days down the toilet.
Don't give up though. I used to be happy with my self when I didnt do it for 7 days, but now I know i can make it up to 77 days. I know it's not something thats easy to let go of, as weird as that sounds. But a friend always tells me, "if you give what you always give, you will get what you've always got". So if you try something out of your comfort zone you will get a different out come, probably one that won't leave scars!
The other thing to think about is you are living for God. You are doing everything FOR God. Are you hurting yourself for God? No. You are doing it for yourself. Would you hurt yourself if Jesus was sitting next to you? No. You would talk to Him about it, wouldn't you? So, maybe try talking to Jesus about it, he will always listen and wants to help you!
I will definatley pray for you, I know what it's like and I know it's not easy!

Nadia.

Texanurse, I am so sorry to hear you are sad. To be alone is a terrible feeling. I will be glad to talk with you. You can email me or pm me. I will put you on my prayer list. I don't know anything about you but God does.

Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus, I ask you to draw close to texas and give her strength and courage to face the forces that are holding her down. Give her words to combat the fear. She is your child and satan has no ground. Satan is denied any power to have control over her. Give her peace and bring her rest. amen

Texan, I will be glad to talk with you anytime. You can email me or pm.

I don't know all your struggles but I will be gald to pray for you.

You know satan is always around to tear you down. When you feel the need to let him get you down, Tell him you are a child of the King, you are God's child and he can't stand where God is. Your body belongs to God, Tell satan the blood of Jesus is all over you and he can't touch you.

I will put you on my prayer list.

Lord, I come to you in the name of Jesus, I pray for your child to have strength to stand her ground and not give the forces she fights any room. I ask you Lord, to refresh her with the Holy Spitit and give her peaceful days and restful nights. amen

Amen sister. I love glorifying Him, don't you? Our recovery is all for His glory. His Grace is sufficient for us. Allelujah!
