  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There has been a 1900 year history of mysterious wounds paranormally appearing on peoples hands, and feet. They also have whipmarks on their back and cuts on their forhead. This represents the wounds of Christ. Is Stigmata self-inflicted injury? Or is it a message from Christ?

If that isnt proof of God and Christ, i dont know what is.
P.S. I have upgraded from an Atheist to an Agnostic.

Hi Zaius!

Welcome to OBOB. You are correct about the stigmata being a sign from God. The stories are amazing and typically the lives of those that receive these remarkable signs are so powerful in their devotion and love for Jesus. A couple of Saints I'd recommend you read about would be St. Francis of Assisi, the first of the known stigmatists and then also St. Padre Pio, a modern day saint who received them. They both have very different but incredible lives. This is an older article on it but one you might find interesting. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/14294b.htm

As for self-infliction, I'm sure there are people who have attempted to do that but the Church strives to authenticate every occurance so the ones that the Church approves of can be trusted because of the testing that the person oges through.

I am thrilled to hear that you are moving closer to an understanding of God.:) I encourage you to continue to seek Him and you are welcome to hang out here and ask all the questions you'd like. By the way, you posted this thread in what is known as the OBOB (One Bread, One Body) Chapel, if you go one level back to the General OBOB forum you will find a lot more activity, questions, answers and fun!
