I saw the DDR thread so I thought I'd see if anyone has heard of StepMania.

StepMania is a DDR game that is hosted on your PC. You can download songs to the game in the Songs folder on your hardrive after installing it as long as the songs are a StepMania file.

You can play on the keyboard, but you can also hook up a dance pad to the PC and play that way. You need a USB converter though depending on what kind of dance pad you have.

Right now I am trying to get a good PS2 dance pad to work with my PC, along with a converter. If anyone has any suggestions to what I should look into getting, let me know.

I think it is actually way better than DDR. You can get rid of vulgar or offensive songs by deleting them and you can opt to not have an announcer. I've heard God's name used in vain in DDR and in this program I never have to hear that!

On the stepmania site they have recommended pads and converters. You might check them out. I just bought my controller and I'm waiting for the playstation to pc converter. It was cheap like 3 bucks plus shipping.

Just an FYI: The dance pad that comes with Dance Praise will work with StepMania. A friend gave me a copy of Dance Praise, complete with dance pad, and I played both DP and StepMania using the same pad.

way old thread. Yeah I play stepmania, I was pretty good at DDR, but now I am not physically able to play it, so I downloaded stepmania

I've played Stepmania for years on the keyboard...lot of fun for me. It's free, can't go wrong with that either. There's always harder songs to pass, so the it's fun to try and always improve your skills and complete more challenging songs.

I have played off and on since 2004. LOL but when i went to a Christian university and they saw me DANCING in my dorm room of all places they took my dance pad because it was dancing and dancing wasn't allowed at the school (even though I was in my dorm room and I had no room mate, and was doing it for exercise.)
