  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

After watching the video I will say this (I must have missed this episode of intro, I usually watch everynight).

1. I would vote for Stephen, I would, would be a lot better than a lot of the people stepping up nowadays.
2. I don't why I didn't think of giving up Catholicism for Lent, that's brilliant.
3. After eating kosher all my life, when I first ate pork, as urged by fiancee in celebration of my decision to become Catholic, I have to say, pork is deliciously unclean, pork ribs = heaven. I honestly didn't know what I was missing.

Oh, ever go to a "Famous Daves"? If you have one near you and haven't been, you still may not know what your missing. ;)

Saturday night at the Filmore Fluffy said is supposed to be one of the top 3 BBQ joints in the country: Entrees | SLOWS BAR BQ. I've got to try it now.

I SO was going to say the bit about giving up Catholicism for Lent. ^_^I don't watch Stephen Colbert, normally but this was cute. I should have thought of that. And its not really 40 days is it? Isn't it like 46 days? Even though its 40 but if you count Sundays its like 46?

So he is doing Lent by giving up Catholicism to be Jewish and as a Jew observing Lent by eating bacon? :D He's silly.:D

I think satire is funny. This is funny because he's making fun of Catholics....and of course was probably reading the Nicene creed from the teleprompter but I am finding a lot of funny stuff like "Ecu-menace" where he says "The one thing we can agree on is the other guy is going to hell" :p

Giving up Catholicism for Lent, I can't think of anything Jesus would approve of more.

This topic really is like opening the troll gates isn't it? :p

It was funny until then. :D

Colbert is funny. I saw that when it was on and my friend said: "why does he have ashes?" I said, "because he's Catholic and likely something is about to happen."

I rarely watch him any more but someone posted this on FB so I had to watch and then to share. It was rich.

Funny thing was, I was listening to Deacon Alex Jones who converted his whole Baptist congregation to Catholicsim talk on Marcus Grodi's coming home radio show tonight on Ave Maria radio and couldn't help but think what it would have sounded like if it has been Cobert instead of Grodi asking the questions. :sorry:

Was funny. Yes it did open up the troll gates.

Some of his stuff isn't very funny. I can get along with the humor of giving up Catholicism for Lent but I don't like it when its obviously.....mean for the sake of being mean.

Yup, its easy to joke about yourself.

When someone turns it into ridicule, its not funny to anyone. I have to remember how unchristian that appears when I am tempted to be a "Don Rickles" to tease someone who might be sensitive. ;)

Oh well.
