Silent Bob said:It is good. As long as abortions happen it is wasteful to let the outcome of them not to be put in good use. It would be unethical to abort fetuses just to harvest their cells but this is NOT what is happening. It is like asking if donating ones body -or parts- after death to science -or others- is moral or not. You can pick to give your eyes and heart to someone, you can decide to be donated for anatomy class or you can pick to become 100% worm food, its your choice.

I think the risk is well worth it. Again, if we could get stem cells to work for us it would the greatest medical advancement of all time. I think a little risk is warranted. It's not a gurantee that the research will bear fruit, and if it does it might take 50 years. Who knows?

I was thinking of research using adult stem cells.
Embryonic stem cell research is "thought to have much greater developmental potential than adult stem cells," according to the National Institutes of Health.
KalEl76 said:Umm, to the best of my recollection the government doesn't fund stem cell research. Therefore, if they begin to utilize the taxpayers' money to fund this type of research, we would like a gurantee that something will come out of the money being spent. It's a serious issue and allot of people are all for the government spending on this research. I'm taking the side of caution from an economical view right now. Then of course, we spend billions of dollars as it is on ridiculous stuff.![]()
