I wasn't scarred, but I don't remember my parents telling me they were a reality either. Gifts just appeared.Hmmm...I guess I've never viewed it as lying. I believed in all of three, Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy and I think I turned out ok and am not scarred from the experience
I guess I just see it as a chance for kids to be kids and to enjoy the fun and fantasy that is part of life as a child. There are so few things in life any more and yes, even in the lives of children, that are just for the purpose of pure joy...I don't see a problem with letting them have those moments in life....in reality, they will all to soon be gone and they will have "grown up" and had to face harsh realities of life...*shrugs*

And my kids have/had their fantasy. I didn't tell them those things weren't true and gifts magically appear on Easter, some Christmas presents that have no label or that aren't wrapped, and money appears under the pillow. But, I didn't lie to them. My kids also know that when I say something, I mean it. That is something that is missing with my mom who threatens and yells, but doesn't follow through.
