  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Awww! Cute picture!

Well, he lost it at school, then he lost the tooth on the way to the clinic where they keep tooth-shaped boxes for the kids that lose teeth. :(

But, he wrote a letter to the tooth fairy and stuck it under his pillow - so he still got his dollar. :D
That happened with Breann too and she wrote a note to the tooth fairy and put it under her pillow and whatdoyaknow - she still got some money :D Good thing the tooth fairy likes to get notes ;)

The note is almost cuter than having the tooth under there, IMO. Steele's note was priceless. :D
Yep! My sister saved my nieces notes and will put them in her scrapbook :D My niece gets a little wordy trying to explain how she lost the tooth and then trying to convince the tooth fairy that she's telling the truth...it's very cute! :D

I have a problem with lying to kids even if it's in fun. I've never told my kids there is an Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, or tooth fairy. When asked if they're real I say I've never seen them, but Santa Claus was a real person, blah, blah.

Oh, he's a cutie!
Yeah, I hear ya. I successfully avoided Santa until just this past Christmas. He started hearing stuff at school and my mom and dad jumped at the chance to reinforce it. They thought I was traumatizing my kids by not "believing" in Santa. When Steele asked me about it, I told him the story behind St Nick. It was as close as I could get to saying there was a Santa.

We don't talk about Easter Bunny. They get baskets, but they've never asked where they come from and I've never brought it up...they just appear on Easter morning.

The tooth fairy - he kind of caught me off guard with that b/c I didn't even know he had a loose tooth, so one of the teachers at school must have said it to him.

Hmmm...I guess I've never viewed it as lying. I believed in all of three, Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy and I think I turned out ok and am not scarred from the experience :D

I guess I just see it as a chance for kids to be kids and to enjoy the fun and fantasy that is part of life as a child. There are so few things in life any more and yes, even in the lives of children, that are just for the purpose of pure joy...I don't see a problem with letting them have those moments in life....in reality, they will all to soon be gone and they will have "grown up" and had to face harsh realities of life...*shrugs*

JMHO :)

I don't have a problem with the fantasy/make believe side of it. I have a problem with having to eventually tell them that you've been yanking their chain for the last 6-7 years.
See that never happened when I was a kid and it didn't happen with my nieces and nephews either...

I'm not sure how we all found out but somehow it was just a realization...I think it was sort of like a passage into being a "grown up" :D

I don't know how to explain it but I never saw it as a negative or as my parents lying to me and I know that my nieces and nephews feel the same way...they never held it against any of us or accused us of lying to them or anything like that...

It was just sort of passing into being a big kid :D

So, Steele has been wiggling the tooth next to the one he lost, but I don't think it's going to come out just yet. It doesnt' seem that wiggly.

But, as of yesterday morning, he didn't even have a wiggly tooth and he lost one yesterday afternoon - so who knows!
