Do you think people who have STDS be treated the same???

Yes, for all intents and purposes. Meaning, they shouldn't be shunned, but neither should they be able to expect public funding for the alleviation of their condition.

Of course, being innocent about getting it (raped, or monogamous person getting it from an unfaithful partner) means you should be able to sue the perpetrator for any medical expenses.

But then.. do you support any public health plans? - I don't know how you could possibly defend treating cardiac problems on the public dime but refuse treatment of the illnesses that result from a compromised immune system.

Public health clinics that provide free treatment for std's help contain the spread of treatable STD's. I'd much rather pay for someone to get testing and antibiotics than have the courts tied up with people suing the girl or guy who gave them syphilis. (And it's REALLY hard to prove someone intentionally gave someone a disease)

Same as whom?

If they are your friend, treat them as you would any friend. If their disease causes them pain, show them compassion and kindness.

The they-did-it-to-themselves attitude doesn't help anything. I don't think people should be having sex outside marriage, but everyone makes mistakes and what they suffer because of them does not give us any right to look down on them. I especially hope no one blames a person with AIDS for their disease. I don't care *what* they might have done. No one deserves to die a horrible death like that just for having sex or sharing a needle.

Plus, not everyone contracts an STD through their own actions. You can get the HIV virus from many other sources. Never make assumptions about a person or their story.

Agreed. The "they did it to themselves" is so patronising. What about children that need to have blood transfusions and end up with aids?
