• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hummm, never thought about guilt that way. I know guilt and the feeling of being an imposter, "if they only really knew me they wouldn't like me" followed me all mylife until this last fall and I am in my forties. I do believe that many people who have the illness of bp also have extremely tender and sensitive hearts, perhaps that plays into the feelings of guilt for some of us. I do know a few who seem to not care about others, and not even realize how much their behavior hurts those around them, but these individuals tend to be unmedicated or have poor insight into themselves. Don't know and I hate to use broad generalizations.

The important thing to make the difference for me was a book called "Peculiar Grace", it truly helped me to stap away from the tendency for legalism I had never been able to break.

1. Establish a routine that requires exercise! Get up in early in the morning and force yourself to walk for an hour (the worse the weather the better).

2. Plan out your day as you walk. Make a schedule when you get home. List everything you do - shower, make bed, exercise, etc. Commit yourself to completing a certain number of activities in a day (ie.10) and check them off.

3. Promise yourself small rewards for completing tasks but keep a schedule - use a timer to keep on tract.

4. Reviewing your schedule should give you a sense of accomplishment!

5. Taking meds at the right times is crucial.
