Did I say they took them as their God? READ what I did say. Look. I am done arguing over silly nonsense. I extended my hand in peace, one person took it., The rest of you have found things to jump on and ignore the fact, that I said, I would agree to disagree with you. YOu have your faith walk and I have mine. I assure you, NONE of this is edifying NOR glorifying to God. I will walk away from this so as not to cause any more dissention. God bless you all.anyone who you have seen who worshipped a saint and took them as their God, was not a RC, EO or any of the apostolic faiths. I promise you that.
If by some rare chance they were, they are in error and this does not mean the church or the EO teach them to do that.
But friend, I am not. Just look at some of the 'fruit' of these threads....I am not judging anyones heart. BUT the proof is in black and white in these pages and pages of arguing...
Hi. And what does that have to with dead saints and statuetes?A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
(John 13:34-35 KJVA)
it does not bother me that there are 58 statues of Mary, but I am a little miffed that there are not 157 statues of Jesus, oh and the saints!!!! come on, you did not drop by a normel catholic shop, the local cathedral might have a book store conected to it, you should check it out and see what a real catholic shop looks like and not some mall stuff
The idea of God being a child is hard for us to understand, Jesus even wants us to be childlike in faith. Did Mary teach Jesus how to read? or scripture? It would make sense.
Mary standing on a snake and a moon is very common in art... wow just found this out, that comes from a mistranslation of the Douay-Rheims bible, read all about it here http://www.catholic.com/thisrock/1997/9709chap.asp
Look, you really need to relax. This is NOT a personal attack on you. Don't read into what I didn't say. I wish you peace friend. And on that, good night. I pray God's richest blessing on you...Who are you to judge?
There is proof in black and white that some people just don't want to listen to us. That is all this thread as shown.
You need to stop baring a false witness against us, we do not worship statues or saints. period.
Then you need to retract comments that we idol worship or what ever it is you accuse us of.Did I say they took them as their God? READ what I did say. Look. I am done arguing over silly nonsense. I extended my hand in peace, one person took it., The rest of you have found things to jump on and ignore the fact, that I said, I would agree to disagree with you. You were not following the posts. I was asked to give Scripture that we are to love one another, which includes (and is not limited to) visiting graves, praying for each other, asking them to pray with and for us, honoring one another. All of these are acts of love and fellowship which is commanded by Scripture.Hi. And what does that have to with dead saints and statuetes?
(Young) Revelation 5:9 and they sing a new song, saying, `Worthy art thou to take the scroll, and to open the seals of it, because Thou wast slaughtered, and didst redeem Us to God in Thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,
no it's an attack against Catholicism and our practices.Look, you really need to relax. This is NOT a personal attack on you. Don't read into what I didn't say. I wish you peace friend. And on that, good night. I pray God's richest blessing on you...
Once again, I DID NOT ACCUSE you of anything. Goodness..for one that is not angry, venom pours out of your posts. Just cause I don't agree with you doesn't mean I am not listening, reading or anything else. YOU are taking this very personally, when I never addressed YOU personally. HONESTLY. YOU need to stop. God bless you. Then you need to retract comments that we idol worship or what ever it is you accuse us of.
We have told you over and over but you refuse to believe us.
We as a whole, as well as individually do not worship statues or saints. we do not teach anyone to do it. if they do, they are in error.
YOU just found my ignore button. You are angry and taking it out on me. I have said over and over it is NOT personal ON YOU! I pray you get over your anger and pray that God richly blesses you.no it's an attack against Catholicism and our practices.
sorry friend,,,hate to disappoint you..BUT I do NOT go to my loved ones graves. For a couple of reasons. They are in another country...I live in Canada now, and my family are in the States. But even when I was close to home..I didn't. Sorry, not something I do. Gives me the willies.
Oblio said:In fact there is a command to do so, for it is love to venerate those made in the ikon of God.

is a photograph better because y'all do it?.Excuse me? Where does it say to make a statuette of them?
Then why not put up photos and statues in a church of every living family member of a church that diesis a photograph better because y'all do it?
if they are found to be in heaven, we do. we believe the saints are our family. Then why not put up photos and statues in a church of every living family member of a church that dies
But not "saintly" enough to be displayed in the church? And how do you determine which ones did or didn't make it to heaven?if they are found to be in heaven, we do. we believe the saints are our family.
Because for corporate use we limit veneration to those who the Church recognizes as finishing the race and with Christ. There is no prohibition of private veneration of relatives and loved ones. In fact most of us do this when we place flowers and photos and letters and poems at the relics (gravesite) of our loved ones. Are the placing of objects at war memorials, and prayers, often while kneeling, idolatry ?Then why not put up photos and statues in a church of every living family member of a church that dies
So are lots casts to see which one gets the "special honor"?Because for corporate use we limit veneration to those who the Church recognizes as finishing the race and with Christ. There is no prohibition of private veneration of relatives and loved ones.
