Are statues consider absolutely FORBIDDEN in Orthodoxy and only correct icons are allowed?

I'm just curious.

As far as I know they are not forbidden, they are just not very good at transcending the physical in the way that icons can, so it is very rare to find in an Eastern Orthodox context. You may find some examples on some of the Greek islands that had been strongly influenced by the Venetians

Seriously, though, they are generally frowned upon in my experience, and I’ve only seen them on the reconstructed Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
