Zeteo on Instagram: "State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller: We’ve never wanted to see a diplomatic resolution with Hamas. @premthakk: Well, what about the ceasefire? Miller: I wish that Hamas would come to the table Subscribe to Zeteo to support independent and unfiltered journalism—tap the link in bio."

So on the one hand State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller says he doesn't want a diplomatic solution with Hamas he wants them destroyed.
But on the other hand he blames Hamas for not coming to the negotiating to agree a ceasefire!

So why would Hamas want to come to the negotiating table to agree a ceasefire with the US and Israel who don't want a diplomatic settlement with them but just want to destroy them. And recently Mossad killed a key Hamas negotiator. Can you think of a reason this might discourage Hamas from negotiating a ceasefire?

Hamas has turned down the last six peace plans. They have turned down the two state solution repeatedly. Their one and only goal is the elimination of Israel.

If Hamas lays down their weapons it would be the end of violence.

If Israel lays down their weapons it would be the end of the Jews.

There is a difference.

Makes as much sense as lying is encouraged in their religion. Not much real progress would be gained through negotiating or anything else.
In the below, 1 is more important but I suspect you will avoid it and respond to 2.

1. This whataboutery response does not address the point made in the OP.

2. Stating something over and over again does not in itself make it true.

Truth-by-repetition: No matter how outrageous, repeated lies become the truth

  • Research has shown that repeating a claim increases that claim’s perceived truth value.
  • However, for a long time, it was assumed that this so-called truth-by-repetition (TBR) effect only applied to claims whose truth value was unambiguous.
  • A new study confirms what politicians and advertisers knew all along: that TBR works on virtually any kind of claim, even highly implausible ones.
Rarely if ever is the claim about Islam and lying backed up by a solid well researched argument. It might be true but it needs to be shown to be true first (and not by argument from anecdote).

2. Israel and the US have repeatedly stated their intention to "destroy" Hamas so Hamas are justified to think that laying down their weapons would simply mean they would be killed by Israel. And the reason for the conflict would remain: Palestinians would still want to return to the lands they were violently ejected from in 1948. So the impasse and the killing will continue.

I will only address number one.

Stating historical facts is not a whatabout

It is fact.

Senior Hamas officer openly rejects two-state solution, calls for Israel’s demise

A senior Hamas official has openly admitted that his terror group will never accept a two-state solution — and boasted that its Oct. 7 attack proved it is possible to expand the Palestinian territory and wipe out Israel.

Khaled Mashal — a key figure helping to run the terror organization from Qatar — claimed in a videotaped interview with Kuwaiti podcaster Amar Taki last week that Gazans and Israelis cannot co-exist, a sentiment he said was made all too clear after Oct. 7.

#1 What gains would be made negotiating?
What’s the alternative, genocide?
Dozens of former Muslims say lying is encouraged. They are to do anything to promote their faith.
My understanding is that Muslims are not morally compelled to identify as Muslim if they are in danger because of that fact.

This is just anecdote - where is the proof from the actual religion?

Another anecdote
Many people in the UK voted for Boris Johnson - a known liar.
What does that prove?
