Hope you weren't refering to me. I go to a baptist church and can prove it =D If I must pm the notice sheets from the Sunday services =D
I just wasn't when I set up the account. I was attending a Pentecostal church then but didn't agree with the teachings.
Hence the non-denom. I attended multiple denominations throughout my life and hadn't found a denomination that taught the Bible. So became a member in October after worshipping with them since April

My edit was awfully written. Sorry. I meant to write that I became a member at that Church because I finally found my Church home and I thank God for it often. The teaching is sound. The fellow Christians seem to walk a Christian life.
EDIT
Also, at the time I didn't like identifying as any denomination as we are all part of the body. But now I wouldn't mind identifying as Baptist, seeing as I agree with the way they teach the Bible.

Because as a Chaplain I minister as non denominational. I believe the Baptist doctrine however I have to be listed as non denominational to preach in prisons, jails and nursing homes. That is why

Oh you mean instead of identifying as 'A child of God' :o I couldn't swap that for Baptist. Would feel wrong. God made me His child, man made religion. It wouldn't feel right.You could do as I had to and identity yourself as Baptist under your name.

It was required of me to be able to evangelize in these places because nametags create big issues in certain areas as i'm sure you know, I wanted to be able to minister to everyone so I chose to wear the title, That way I could be called in anytime to do death notifications, suicide watches, death bed sits or whatever the case, without all the drama. I could just skip one hurdle for some people and teach the bible.

Any Christian can post in any of the specific faith groups as long as they respect the beliefs of that faith group and do not post or teach contrarily. The Sop supports "guests".

No. A Baptist here for 40+ years. Baptist Churches tend to be congregational in polity. Your experience was with one particular Baptist Congregation. I don't think it was a wise thing to recommend to prospective believers. Romans is a great book, but for new believers -- no. I've heard the Gospel of John recommended by many believers. I would personally recommend Matthew, Mark, or Luke first.

Yeah I was thinking not only about new believers but about when I became Born Again (35+ years ago). As someone who did not come out of a Christian home who had very limited "church" contact, I can tell you when I was a baby Christian I would not have understood Romans. So reading and learning FIRST about this new Savior Jesus was and still is everything to me.

I have never heard of the Romans road before even though I've probably seen/heard it practiced before. I didn't know the practice had a formal name.

Romans 6:23 Sin has a penalty.
Romans 5:8 Jesus paid the penalty
Romans 10:13 Call on Jesus
Some start this last one with verse 9 and go through 13

Ideally, a new believer or non-believer should read Scripture with the help of a mature believer (or group of mature believers), not alone. I don't know that there is an idea starting place. The OT can be tedious for a new believer with no concept of the New Covenant. The depth of the New Covenant can be hard to grasp without some basic understanding of the OT. Romans specifically seems like it would be quite confusing to a person who had no basic grasp of the Law or the Gospel. So much of the knowledge necessary to meaningfully read anything in Scripture really needs to be provided through remedial instruction from a mature believer with a strong love and understanding of Scripture.
