  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Psalms 4:
3
But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself:
the Lord will hear when I call unto him.
4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed,
and be still. Selah.
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.

How do we begin to offer sacrifices of righteousness? By Faith?
What does that mean? As we have just read.
Put your trust in the Lord.

Psalms 40:4 Blessed is that man that makes the Lord his trust, and respects
not the proud, nor such as turns aside to lies.

Now here is what we are told:
Hebrews 13:
15
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God,
that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
16
But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices
God is well pleased.
17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive,
for they watch out
for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and
not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

Obedience is better than sacrifice...
1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings
and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than
sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

Showing mercy is greater than all sacrifices.
Hosea 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God
more than burnt offerings.

The saint becomes the sacrifice
Romans 12:
1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your
bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God,
which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and
perfect will of God.

He had already made this known long before
Micah 6:
6
How shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God? shall
I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?
8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require
of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

For this is the revelation that David, the sweet Psalmist
received by the Anointing.

Psalms 40:
6
Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened:
burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

This is the appropriate response to the New Covenant
Psalms 50:5 Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made
a covenant with me by sacrifice.

The true sacrifices of God
Psalms 51:
14
Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation:
and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall show forth thy praise.
16
For you desire not sacrifice; else would I give it: you delight not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God,
You wilt not despise.

Only righteous judgment is acceptable
Proverbs 21:3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable
to the Lord than sacrifice.

Do not forsake mercy, for salvation is of our Lord
Jonah 2:
7
When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer
came unto You, into your holy temple.
8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9
But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay
what I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.

The Greatest Commandments
Mark 12:
32
So the scribe said to Him, Well Teacher. You have spoken the truth,
for there is one God, and there is no other but He.
33 And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding,
with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor
as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
34 Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him,
You are not far from the kingdom of God.
