We also have the Essenes, the first century Christians, and nearly EVERY CHRISTIAN FROM THE FIRST THREE CENTURIES using the Septuagint. Josephus and Jerome, that's ALL you have? You have no compiled lists? You won't give the citations as to when and where Josephus was speaking about the canon? I have given the location of the use of the Septuagint by referencing the various authors and texts that quoted it, including Athanasius in "De Incarnation", John Chrystostom in his collected homilies, and others.

So what? Only the people from 500 years later knew what belonged in the Old Testament? That's what you said. The Masoretes are the ones who compiled your list based on a fake rule that isn't Scripturally based.
Don't forget Melito's list, which is the same as Protestant bibles, sans perhaps, Esther, compiled c175. It's the same as Josephus (22 or 24 books depending on your pious adherence to letters in alphabet).

read my signature... in it Christ states that Moses and the prophets are the criteria to be followed while Jude states that the salvic criteria has been delivered once and for all
This would be a good add
2 John 9-10
9 Whosoever goes forward and abides not in the doctrine of the Christ has not God. He that abides in the doctrine, *he* has both the Father and the Son.

10 If any one come to you and bring not this doctrine, do not receive him into [the] house, and greet him not;

most are too set in their ways for"
those who are in doubt, we should "have mercy" on them (Jude 23), and should correct them in meekness, "if perhaps God may give them repentance unto the full knowledge of the truth" (2 Tim. 2:25)
Bingo.

Indeed - the Catholics did not write the OT and have no say at all over what it contains.

Jerome - one of their own Bible translators - reminds them of their error in confusing the greek text of the Septuagint with the Hebrew Bible - when it comes to the apocryphal inserts that the greek text contained but did not affirm to be in the canon. And in fact were not held as canon in the Hebrew temple.

True enough. It's just a tin man to deflect the main point about SS.

Catholics decided what books are canonical and what books are not.
lolol what did you do in the great catholic decision ^_^

.... what the early church fathers proclaimed as Christian belongs to all christians or there would not be the same foundation claimed...that really is a huge joke that catholics try to crowd out protestants from the beginning of the church foundations...

it really is the height of pride to say such a thing :(

I pray for the saints who made the decision, and God (who transcends time) hears our prayers and answered the prayer of the Catholic Church and thus we have an infallible canon of holy scripture consisting of 73 holy books.

whatever you think you had to do with constructing the canon is a figment of your imagination.

You do not believe that God hears and answers prayers?
Christ's death accomplished past present and future. Your prayers don't have the same effect. The past history of canon cannot be effected by anything done today in prayer. Where ever did you get that idea?

Well, chaps who delete whatever they dislike from their bibles are not troubled by facts.
Sola Scriptura from the 66 books of the bible have all that is needed for salvation within it. That which is added to from what God Himself terms the "silent years" are only confusing the issue for those of you who keep to it by placing things in a stumbling block that promotes pride and self justification afaics

No it doesn't. If Scripture alone cannot decide if the soul sleeps or not and if annihilationism is true or not then it is not sufficient to decide all matters of doctrine and practise is it?

Lack of evidence is the deciding factor and SS is still intact. They are not doctrine to me at least, never heard of it before coming to cf

But the bible can't help you decide the matter. BobRyan will tell you it is all settled in the bible and what's kind of interesting is that both you & BobRyan use the same number of books in your bibles.
